Texas A&M after Seahawks over 12th Man

I'm going to back A&M on this. They hold the trademark, period. That doesn't stop other teams from using 12th Man to refer to their fans, but it prevents those teams from profiting through the sale of 12th Man merchandise. THAT is what A&M is trying to protect. Once you stop enforcing a trademark (it's up to the hold, not the government), the trademark is worthless.

Random musing on the situation, it is accepted that the 12th man event occured in 1922, against Centre College. Now, the event occured in 1922, but when did the student body (err, the corp until the 60"s) actually begin to use this? Can one of the Aggies here help me out with this one? And please dont say 1922, the event occured in 1922, it can not be a tradition the following the week.

Logistical Sidenote: For Centre College to be a "power house" team, they would have had to several other "power house" teams, which means when TAMU played Centre is must have been at or near then end of the season. Thus 1922 can not be the answer to the question.

Wasting to much brain time on this topic
