KevinMcD
Steve Tasker. The benchmark for special teams play and a class act off the field. His highlight reel during the Bills super bowl run is without peer including a blocked punt in SBXXVII.He could rock a guy on coverage or down it at the 1 on demand. agreedAlso Thurman Thomas, Andre Reed, Bruce Smith & Cornelius Bennet from the Super Bowl Bills
ebod39
The first kicker that deserves a spot in the Hall is Ray Guy IMO, not that others aren't deserving, but if special teamers start to get spots Ray Guy would have to lead that pack. Agreed. Then Tasker can follow.
Lonewolf-Superbeast
Anyone forgetting Derrick Thomas???The man was a terror at the "Falcon" Linebacker position for the chiefs. He would have had many more years of production if he didn't get killed on his way back from a St. Louis Rams football game in a snow storm.and another thing...What about Hines Ward. He owns steelers pass reception records, and if i'm not mistaken he's closing in on yards receiving and touchdown records.Food for thought. FiddySicks
OK yeah its homerism, but ima still say it.Mike Alstott. Reason? This guy plays what is really considered a dying position in the NFL at fullback and has done it tremendously. The dudes been to about 10 Pro Bowls and holds a ton of Buccaneers records. Jigga
So, basically criteria for the HoF is being one of the best players on your favorite team, huh? Halls of Fame should only be reserved for the very best of the best. If you legitimately feel that you "have to make a case" for someone, then should they really be inducted? One play, one game, or one season does not a Hall of Famer make. There will and SHOULD be very good players that don't even come close to making it to the Hall. It's not for all of the very good players, it's for the best of the greats.Let's remember that... On January 16, 2013 at 3:49 PM, NJTank said: Btw this is old hat for Notre Dame. rebelx
I agree that Gary Anderson should be elected. Morten Andersen and Elam's numbers do make good cases for them, as well. More kickers should be in the Hall, period. And while we're at it, Ray Guy definitely deserves in. Get a friggin' punter in there, for god's sake. Guy was arguably the best ever in his capacity. Landeta...maybe. He's a consideration, at the very least.Btw, who suggested Brentson Buckner? Buckner?!! The guy is solid, but he's never really been great or anything. He's never made a pro bowl or an All-NFL team, and though some players are unfairly overlooked for both, he's not one of them, IMO.
rebelx
Thanks to everyone who contributed to this list; lots of guys I forgot (although to the person who mentioned Roaf and Shields, I already covered those guys in my initial post ).I have to admit, I never would have thought of Isaac Bruce. His career numbers are pretty damn good! He's got a real good shot at the Hall. The purpose of this post was to name guys who are not yet eligible, but might make it someday. Next, I'll do a post about guys who are ALREADY eligible, and haven't yet made it in.
