DrBear
The Marquette Rangers was formally introduced as the NAHL's 21st member at a press conference this morning at Lakeview Arena. NAHL commissioner Michael Santos of Frisco, Texas, announced the league's acceptance of the local team of players 20 years of age and younger. The team name is a throwback to the Marquette Iron Rangers of the 1950s and 1960s in the U.S. Hockey League (a senior league in those days, rather than a Junior A circuit). The colors are described as Steel Blue, Copper Red and Nickel Grey, (The Iron Rangers name came from the large mining operations that used to be in the area; note the miner and the pick in the logos.)Main logo:Alt:
yh
Seems to me this logo and color set has been very heavily influenced/inspired by the Tulsa Oilers of the Central League.
winters in buffalo
Inspired, maybe. But light years better. I like both logos. The letter spacing and thickness is a bit out of whack on the alt, though.
