winters in buffalo
After watching women's curling all afternoon, I'm starting to think it might be fun. Anyone here play?
HedleyLamarr
I've liked watching curling for a while, because it's a good strategy game, and I'm all about the strategy.....
highlanders08
After watching my mom play curling for the first 10 years of my life and having trued it myself, I've gotta say that it is pretty fun and that those rocks weigh a lot more than they look. It's still not as fun as some other sports.
-Helix-
I would try it if I didn't have anything better to do.Though I don't really feel like flying to Canada to have the ability to try it.
CC97
I've never played, but I've been watching for over a decade...Just to reiterate what has already been said... those rocks are much much heavier than they appear

I looked it up, and as luck would have it (and to my amazement), we have a local curling club. They're having an instructional session on Saturday. I might check it out. officeglenn
I played for my high school mixed rink in Grades 11 and 12, lettering in the latter. We won the city championship and went to zone playdowns that year, but were pretty badly overmatched. I also played in a mixed rec league last winter when I was in Fernie. It's good fun, for sure. And it's not really a hard game to pick up. Give it a few weeks, and you'll be making raise double takeouts like a pro ... some of the time. paynomind
.....not to mention that some of the female curlers are pretty good lookin Curling Nude CalendarIt is very similar to table shuffleboard, which I love. They have several tables at Dave and Busters. I'd like to have one, but they go for 5k a table. Yikes!
Stampman
I watch it, but mostly the finals, I'm not a huge fan--I like the strategy of it.I used to watch it more as I have curlers in my family, but they're mostly retired from top competitions--I have national & world curling champions for men's, women, and mixed in my family.I myself have never actually played it though... My dad is huge into table shuffle board and looked for a good table for years before he finally got one from a bar that closed down for like $800. Really nice table, absolutely no room for it. OMMF
Seattle has the only club in the US west of Minneapolis. It's home to some former national champions and is highly regarded around the nation.Every November they have an open house that allows the general public to come in on Saturdays and try it out. It was so much fun the first time I tried it, I got a trial membership. I was only 16 at the time so I couldn't give it my 100% with high school and such, but now I'm thinking about signing up again. It's a great workout, let me tell you.
Cujo
Before these Olymipcs I had never cared much for curling or even watched it to be honest, but after catching a game or two, I really find the game intriguing. I'm starting to get the concept of it, eventhough the rules seem pretty difficult to the average viewer, but I'll try to stay tuned if the States can continue to stay competetive. smzimbabwe
Seattle has the only club in the US west of Minneapolis.Actually, Seattle has the only designated curling ice west of North Dakota. There are plenty of clubs throughout the west, they just have to share ice with hockey and skating rinks. Jessica Schultz of the U.S. team currently in Italy was a long time member of the Anchorage Curling Club before joining up with the Johnson sisters in Minnesota. I myself am a member of the Boise Curling Club and we just completed our season...
