Carolina Panthers Concept

Here is my first NFL concept. The biggest change is the blue jersey as the primary and the addition of black pants. I removed all silver from the logo, so I also got rid of the silver pants. The helmet was changed to blue, and the blue in the helmet logo is not white. I also removed the sleve and pants logos, so the helmet logo is the only one on the uniform.

I've always believed that if a football team is wearing a jersey other than white or gold, the pants should be lighter than or the same color as the jersey.

Well, there's always an exception to rules, and you caught me on that with the blue jerseys and black pants. Those look really sharp. Fantastic job.

BigBoy's right, it does look like the team from Playmakers...not that it's a bad thing. I like the white stripes on blue jersey. I'm not sold on the helmet though.

BTW- while on the subject of Playmakers....whatever happened to Donnie Jeffcoat? If you don't know who he is, first, shame on you. He was one of the other hosts of Wild 'n' Crazy Kids besides Omar Gooding, who was on Playmakers.

Thanks everyone for the comments. The main reasons for the changes in the helmet is because I didn't like the silver in the color scheme and the black logo on a black helmet doesn't work very well. Plus the blue color is unique to the Panthers in the NFL, and there really isn't a team that has a helmet any where near that color (except for MAYBE Seattle). Anyways I'm thinking about doing a series of ACC football concepts, so you can look forward to that (yeah right) in the next week or so.

The Lions' Honolulu blue is fairly close to the Panthers' blue. At least it's closer than the drab blues Seattle wears.

I thought at first I wouldn't like a Panthers concept without silver. But these have grown on me. The black jerseys look a little severe with essentially black and white and some blue trim (blue shoulder stripes instead of white perhaps?), but all in all I like these designs.

I have always been of the school of thought that there is no need for black, and if any, not in the jersey's main color. Just pants. And that's only an if.

...so says the Pale Hose fan :P heh well, just messin with ya

on topic, I woulda used one of the full-bodied panthers as a sleeve logo, but then that's just me. the helmet, I'd probably have to get used to it.

I thought about using one of the full body logos for the sleeves actually, but I didn't really like either of them. I guess I was only thinking about the helmets when I said that the Panthers blue is unique to them, but the Lions are another reason to change from a silver helmet. With blue helmets, blue jerseys, and black pants, you can easily tell a Lions player at home from a Panther player at home.

Thanks again for all the comments guys.

Anyone else getting NY/NJ Hitmen flashbacks off of this one? Trust me though, that's not a complaint. I do think the Panthers currently have a nice set going, though. If someone could just convince them to toss those white pants, and maybe bring in a black set...
