NHL uniform Changes 06-07

Did anyone else catch this small line in the latest Uni Watch?

"It's official: The NHL will not have new form-fitting uniforms next season."

Nope, it'll be 07-08:

"the NHL is slated to debut its long-rumored slim-fit unis in 2007-08"

"The (Stars) will have a new primary jersey design (in two seasons), because the NHL is slated to debut its long-rumored slim-fit unis in 2007-08, and the Stars' current star-patterned design won't fit the new silhouette."

For people who love the Stars jerseys or are worried that the new designs will be attrocious, I guess this could be bad news. For me, I think there could be good news in that.

For one, I don't care for the Stars jerseys, but that's really besides the point.

To me what this means is that they will be converting the teams uniforms who can be (and I'd assume most of the old and new classics--take the 'Hawks and Blues for instance) will be able to fit the new format.

I'm still not a fan of the format change, but whatever. Just don't ruin good designs and I'll be okay with it.

Well, something had to be up if they pushed it back a year. They had to have gotten some kind of message from the players and GMs. Maybe they had some sense pounded into them and will come up with something different without being an affront to the sport. I thought the design of the smaller jerseys at the Olympics were terrible, but just from a fit/cut standpoint it was no big deal. It's horrible new logos and scary things like no horizontal stripes that people talked about here that pissed me off.

Open question to anyone:

Why will the designs change just because of the jerseys becoming more from-fitting?

The arms of those jerseys during the Olympics looked terrible.....the stripes just at the elbows?

Anyway, the Thrashers will only use 2 jerseys next season. The current home jersey is being thrown out and the current blue alternate will be the new home jersey for 06-07.

Anyone got an idea of when the 2008 Atlanta ASG logo will be unveiled?

Im guessing itll be the same logo as the 2005 ASG that was cancelled.

Ive heard that Minny may switch to a red jersey when its all said and done, and that SJ may update, but i hope not (for SJ anyways, dont care about minny)

Amen to that brother, I totally agree and yet I currently like what they have, thye just need to put the shoulder crest on the front and make a blue uni based off of what they have now.

I worked for the Hawks/Thrashers this past season and heard we were ditching the current home jerseys. They don't fit in with the Blueland marketing campaign.

Thats depressing to hear. I love their current homes more than their alts.

BTW, if anything, Toronto is blue land where we bleed blue! The Blues and Thrashers (which isnt really THAT blue) better stop biting our sayings!

What is this Blueland marketing campaign of which you speak? Are the Atlanta Hawks also switching to blue uniforms? How about the Atlanta Falcons?

New rule: If you come into the league in 2001, you have to keep your uniforms for at least 10 years. Just because you made terrible choices in uniform styles doesn't mean you get to opt out as soon as possible. You made the choice to have terrible taste; you must live with it.

i don't even dislikek the alternates, but if they drop their BEST uniform, the homes... with the batman logo... they'll be making a mistake.

i freaking hate that bird logo. the T is much nicer.

I personally prefer the blue jersey to the current home based on the colour. I think it's a shame that the powder blue doesn't get used much, was always a fan of the old Pens and the Nordiques blue jerseys.

I agree on the points made regarding the logo. Keep the T logo, but the silly bird matches up with the white jersey. I'm not a fan of the goofy sleeve either. Heck just flip the colours on the current home to the ALT blue. easy.

....I don't get it. What is Blueland? Evidently a cross between an NFL Films piece and the lyrics to "No Quarter" by Led Zeppelin. Ridiculous pretentious crap, especially since Atlanta is a city that I think of as being really really green, the bird itself isn't blue, and the only blue in the other two uniforms is like one little streak.

My research also mentioned that the "Blueland" promotional ice cream makes you crap blue for a week. Delightful.

Where did you find the Blueland quote?

The blue ice cream isn't all that good, it just turns your entire mouth/tongue blue for the next 24 hours.

Philips Arena is referred to as Blueland when the Thrashers are at home. They've done a great job of getting this city excited about the team, combined with the team actually contending now.

One of the owners was shocked that the team gear store had a rack of other teams' jerseys, so he got rid of those. He offered all fans a free Thrashers jersey if they traded in their jersey from another team. Replica for replica, authentic for authentic. They had to end it because of the overwhelming response.

The alternates were worn for Saturday home games and the one game against Detroit.
