spyboy1 Posted October 17, 2003 Posted October 17, 2003 Here's my first variation on what I would have done to the Wild alternate. It's a combination of Red Wings shoulders & sleeves, a Canadiens middle stripe and a arched and drop shadow name with drop shadow numbers like the Rangers - all very traditional teams to enhance the look. The second version drops the Canadiens stripe to take some of the green out of it to clean it up a bit visually if the first version is too busy for your liking.JeffB Click here to read Third String Goalie - The Hockey Jersey of the Day Blog Click here to see my hockey and baseball jersey collection online ?You don?t like to see 20 kids punching 20 other kids. -kj Posted October 17, 2003 Posted October 17, 2003 Eh, I don't think I'd like it with the drop shadow numbers. Definitely not with the stripe across. If I get a chance (ha!), I want to try putting their current home/away numbers on it and see how it looks.BTW, the shoulders on that depiction (unless you changed them on purpose) are inaccurate, at least according to the replica I'm looking at. The green at the shoulders is a straight line, instead of following the shoulder curve a la Detroit. Buy some t-shirts and stuff at KJ Shop! zer0dotcom Posted October 17, 2003 Posted October 17, 2003 The bottom one doen't look bad (better minus the drop shadow)but the Canadiens stripe, I don't see it fitting in, even if the number changed...
spyboy1 Posted October 17, 2003 Author Posted October 17, 2003 BTW, the shoulders on that depiction (unless you changed them on purpose) are inaccurate, at least according to the replica I'm looking at. The green at the shoulders is a straight line, instead of following the shoulder curve a la Detroit.I did change them on purpose. I thought the straight line was a little "baseball style" and I made them to look like the current Red Wings or classic Penguins look. Minnesota Duluth used the same style when Brett Hull was there, so to me that minor alteration is a bit more "hockey" to my eye.I wasn't married to the drop shadow numbers. Something that looks a little more "handmade" or at least vintage would fit the look better than the numbers they chose, which to me don't add to the old school feel. I just couldn't find a pic of what I have pictured in my mind at that hour last night.I guess I also have an aversion to those numbers because they not only don't look that vintage, but that seems to be the font people use most when they aren't paying attention to doing an accurate job of lettering a jersey.I've seen more than a few Devils Brodeur jerseys lazily done with that font.JeffB Click here to read Third String Goalie - The Hockey Jersey of the Day Blog Click here to see my hockey and baseball jersey collection online ?You don?t like to see 20 kids punching 20 other kids.
