Brian in Boston
The New York Times and USA Today are both reporting that the Major League Soccer Board of Governors has approved the sale of the MetroStars franchise to the Austrian beverage company Red Bull. It is expected that an official announcement of the sale will take place on either Thursday or Friday. It is also being reported that the team's new owners will re-brand their acquisition as either Red Bull New York or the New York Red Bulls in time for the club's 2006 season opener against DC United in Washington. Adidas, Major League Soccer's official uniform provider, is rushing to complete production on new kits for the team.http://www.nytimes.com/2006/03/09/sports/s...r=1&oref=sloginhttp://www.usatoday.com/sports/soccer/mls/...s-redbull_x.htm
OMMF
Oddly, Red Bull New York sounds better to me. I have no idea why.
leopard88
Oddly, Red Bull New York sounds better to me. I have no idea why. Agreed. New York Red Bull actually sounds much more forced. Red Bull New York sounds like a soccer team (sort of like Red Star Belgrade).
