White Sox World Series Rings

DEAD!

This is the actual A's 1989 ring:

Funniest thing about those rings is that most of those green stones were accually just green glass because Finley was such a cheap bastard.

EDIT: Whoops!!! Nevermind. That was an earlier ring. Finley lost his stock in the team a few years earlier.

I just went to that website, and they're auctioning off, I guess, replicas of the rings?  I doubt Kirk Gibson would need nor want to auction off his 84 ring.  But I could be wrong.

Just as a follow up to this question, read the description:

Sample ring from the 1984 Detroit Tigers, the World Champions that jumped out to a 35-5 record, lapping the competition in the process. Ring sports "Gibson" on the side and menacing Tiger logo underneath "1984". Five faux diamonds are on top set inside blue stone. Gold toned celestrium ring is a size 12, has stampings inside and is in Near Mint condition.

That one's a sample, although some are genuine.

Does anyone else find it funny the Marlins put the Yankees' logo on their championship ring?

kom22

yeah, I don't think I have seen that before.

The Lightning out all 4 logos of the teams they beat on their ring, along with the series score. Don't have a picture right now, but that is a beautiful ring.

Baltimore Ravens 2000ravens_2001_xxxv.jpg

ravens-ring.jpg

Ravens? championship ring is a bold ?across-the-finger? style cast in 14-karat yellow gold. The bezel (top) is contoured to symbolize the football stadium and surrounded at the base with 40 diamonds. Looking into the top of this massive ring, the Raven logo appears, crafted in 18-karat yellow gold and set with 63 brilliant yellow diamonds. The bold bird, with a white gold, diamond set beak and ruby eye, is mounted upon an amethyst (purple) base stone, recreating the Ravens colors. The backdrop for the gleaming Raven mascot is a football field crafted in white gold and channel set square diamonds.

The shanks (sides) of the ring are modeled with significant elements and symbols of the Ravens? championship season. The right shank features the individual players name and number and the Ravens shield and inscription, ?Set the Standard? (a phrase from the Baltimore franchise?s mission statement). The left shank includes the 2000 Super Bowl XXXV logo, score banner (Ravens 34 - Giants 7) and the Vince Lombardi trophy rising out of the PSINet stadium. Both shanks bear the inscription, INVICTUS ? the title of a presentation given to the team during last year?s training camp by Art Berg, a well-known motivational speaker and world-class wheelchair athlete.

In total, the Ravens? ring weighs 37 pennyweight (an average men?s ring weighs 12 pennyweight) and contains approximately 200 diamonds, the most ever for a Jostens-produced Super Bowl ring. The total diamond weight is over three carats

How can they auction off Joe Torre and Jim Leyland's rings?  Wouldn't they want to keep them?

The rings are prototypes.

And are League Championship rings... not WS rings.

PD: Very nice the Cubbies ring. Hope it can be materialize in a fewer time...

Well, unless there are other Torre and Leyland rings that I'm not seeing, they both clearly say "WORLD CHAMPIONS".

When teams give out rings, most players buy a "duplicate/sample/B version" ring to wear in public because of the sheer value of the actual rings.

I have friends in pro sports, and most of the support staff get the "B" version of the rings. A guy I know with the Pats got one A version and 2 B versions of their rings for their super bowl rings. The A version is worth a ton, and the B version is just low grade diamonds and some colored glass. To the naked eye, you'd enver know, but if you held one in your hand, you could tell the weight difference.

I saw the 2002 SF Giants NL Championship ring, and it's quite nice, black square stone with a gold SF in the middle, it's one of the few rings that's wearable.

I love it...all the bling, a nice clean logo, and it actually looks like a RING.

The problem for me is that it looks like a ring my Grandmother would wear. It's the girliest championship ring I've ever seen.

I'm still at a loss to understand why an athlete would start the bidding for these rings for a measely $500. I don't know how much higher the bidding goes, but it just seems like they should get a lot more than that.

That sucks. If you're some bench player on the 1997 Marlins and that's all you have to show for your career, and you have no discernable job skills because you skipped college, well, that's just terrible.
