Cujo Posted April 5, 2006 Share Posted April 5, 2006 With a little help from a certain UF alumn, I came up with some new gear for Florida Gators Football. The ver first thing I did was ditch the half-cursive "Gators" script from the helmet. I think that looks god-awful. Instead I am using the interlocking UF from days past. Next I gave the uniforms more of a modern design. There was a debate wether or not to slap the gator head logo on the sleeves or on the pants. VitaminD Posted April 6, 2006 Share Posted April 6, 2006 I really like the jerseys, although this would be a case where schoolwide font uniformity would do even better. As long as you're making the switch from block varsity numbers to a bolder italicized font, why not just go ahead and use the same font that the basketball team does? It's close to what you have, but it's serifed, and just different enough that it looks like you tried to match them up but couldn't and compromised.My issue with these (number font aside) is the serious loss of orange. If you don't want orange pants, so be it. The white and blue look fine. But blue helmets + blue jerseys + white pants + orange trim = Boise State. This looks more like a Boise State concept than a Florida one. The Gators' orange lids make them stand out, and adds some life to some otherwise buttoned-down uniforms (simple royal/white with a little orange). I'd say you could even leave the script "Gators" off in favor of your "UF" monogram (in blue, outlined white).Standardizing the numbers and returning an orange helmet would make this not only acceptable, but a substantial upgrade from what they have now.
