rlj
I checked the MLB.com store to see if they had any hats with that logo(which would have told me what it's for), but they didn't have any. Anyone know what the story is on this logo?
slapshot
It's probably a hat for the Springfield Cardinals, the AA (I think) affiliate of St. Louis.

FiddySicks
Yeah its Springfield. I saw that on the Cards website. Why was Ponson playing for a AA team? And when?
rlj
Ah, I see. I just wasn't aware Ponson ever pitched for their AA team.

My cousin Mike was telling me that they had an exibition game in the new stadium. He said it was kinda wierd because most of the seats hadnt been put in the upper deck yet and there was a lot of dirt and grime from all the construction. My cousin Mike was telling me that they had an exibition game in the new stadium. He said it was kinda wierd because most of the seats hadnt been put in the upper deck yet and there was a lot of dirt and grime from all the construction. Actually, most of the seats in the upper deck are in place and had fans sitting in them for the exhibition game last week (which BTW was the Memphis Redbirds vs. the Springfield Cardinals). That said, as folks will see on tomorrow's highlights of the Cardinals' opener, the upper deck in the left field corner is not finished yet. If the seats are not already in place by tomorrow, they're due to be in place within the next week. However, those seats will not actually be for sale until at least June. The reason: there's nothing behind them; no restrooms, no concession stands, no maintenance facilities, no running water yet. That area is where the old Busch's footprint and the new Busch's footprint overlapped. This is why it is "unfinished". It's literally about 5 sections worth of the upper deck; not the whole of it by any means. The actual construction schedule has that area opening in July, but the construction is ahead of schedule enough that those seats may open by June.I do agree that it is weird that the Cardinals will be playing in an unfinished park until then, but the extent of what is unfinished is greatly overstated in your earlier post. pcgd
Which of the 12 steps is Springfield on Ponsons AA tour? I'm surprised he's still on the wagon. So far though, he's been very solid. Takes over for Ray King as my favorite fat cardinal. And I thought it was going to be Molina this year...
Kess
Allow me to be the 14th person to say "It's a Springfield Cardinals hat." One of my favorites. I have a road blue somewhere, but I can't find it. And what the other people said was right. He pitched for Springfield on Tuesday, April 4, in an exhibition game against Memphis at Busch Stadium. His first scheduled start wasn't until Sunday in Chicago and the big-league 'Birds wanted him to get some work in before that.
