You can correct the seedings. New Jersey came back to win 4-3, so they win the Atlantic, and will face the Rangers in the first round. Buffalo gets Philly too.

[Croatia National Team Manager Slavan] Bilic then went on to explain how Croatia's success can partially be put down to his progressive man-management techniques. "Sometimes I lie in the bed with my players. I go to the room of Vedran Corluka and Luka Modric when I see they have a problem and I lie in bed with them and we talk for 10 minutes." Maybe Capello could try getting through to his players this way too? Although how far he'd get with Joe Cole jumping up and down on the mattress and Rooney demanding to be read his favourite page from The Very Hungry Caterpillar is open to question. --The Guardian's Fiver, 08 September 2008

This is has been bugging me this week and in years past. It's called the Stanley Cup Playoffs not the NHL playoffs. This isn't the NBA the NHL actually has a name for it's playoffs.

Anyways, I got the Devils winning it all. And that is my homer pick.

Most predicition games I see, you pick your 8 finals for the first round, then you pick the 4 for the next round and then the 2 left for the conference finals and then the Championship.

My predictions:

Rangers over Devils in 7.

Sabres over Flyers in 5.

Red Wings over Oilers in 5.

Avalanche over Stars in 7.

Mighty Ducks over Flames in 6.

Here are my Stanley Cup Playoffs picks.

Eastern Conference: 1st Round

-(1) Ottawa def. (8) Tampa Bay in 6 games (Remember, the Lightining are the defending Stanley Cup champions, so you know they won't go down without a fight)

-(4) Buffalo def. (5)Philadelphia in 7 games (This might be the best 1st round series in the Eastern Conference).

-(2) Carolina def. (7) Montreal in 4 games (What a joke for the Canes. Why not just give them a bye into the Semis?)

-(6) NY Rangers def. (3) New Jersey in 7 games (Jagr outduels Gionta)

Semis:

-(1) Ottawa def. (6) NY Rangers in 5 games (Ottawa is too powerful even for the Rangers)

-(2) Carolina def. (4) Buffalo in 6 games (Sabres can step up, but not here)

Eastern Conference Finals:

-(1) Ottawa def. (2) Carolina in 7 games(These teams dueled until the final night for the top seed, so expect a classic duel of offensive proportions)

Western Conference: 1st Round

-(1) Detroit def. (8) Edmonton in 4 games (Yawn. NEXT!)

-(5) San Jose def. (4) Nashville in 5 games (Sharks chomp on inexperenced Preds)

-(2) Dallas def. (7) Colorado in 4 games (Not exactly the matchup it would of been 3 or 4 years ago)

-(3) Calgary def. (6) Anaheim in 6 games (Mighty Duck a la Flambe, anyone?)

Semis:

-(1) Detroit def. (5) San Jose in 7 games (Sharks will find out that the Dead Things are indeed evil and must be beaten. Too bad they won't get the job done)

-(3) Calgary def. (2) Dallas in 7 games (Calgary pulls off a feat similar to the last Stanley Cup Playoffs).

Western Conference Finals:

-(1) Detroit def. (3) Calgary in 5 games (Oh well...)

Stanley Cup Finals: Ottawa def. Detroit in 7 games to get Lord Stanley's Chalice back to Canada and away from the dirty, disgusting hands of the Dead Things and their equally as Dead fans.
