Hahaha Barry Bond...Owned again

I hate Barry as much as anyone. I'd love to hit him in the face with the ball 90 concecutive at-bats.

The epitome of the scumbag fan: One who accually wishes to cause harm to a guy theyve only seen on television and have never met.

Honestly, thats like wanting to assult Christopher McDonald because he was a "jerk" as Shooter McGavin in Happy Gilmore.

Does meeting Barry Bonds make a difference? 'Cuz if so, I have, and I'd have no problem beating the :censored: out of him with a bat.

My solution to the "Bonds Problem" is actually a little different. Let dickhead hit 756. Throw BP-like pitches to Ken Griffey, Jr., letting him jack dingers until he passes Bonds on the list. If Griffey could've somehow managed to stay healthy during his career, he'd probably be up in the 650-700 range now. So why not help him along like 'roids helped Bonds?

If he is on your team, you look past his well-documented jerkiness and see how he helps the team by hitting for power.

But, the rest of us, real baseball fans, cant see past it. Breaking the law to excel at a sport then being an indignant, self-righteous, self-service, racist, ashole jerk is the exact kind of thing we hate.

If a bunch of idiots who want to see a guy physically injured are considered the real baseball fans, than id rather not be associated with REAL baseball fans.

I'm trying to get all lathered up about Barry Bonds...but I'm just not feeling it. Sure he's a jerk, but so was Ty Cobb, who was linked to game fixing once upon a time (I've read about it before, but ESPN has an article on it today). Where's the throngs screaming for Cooperstown to rip his plaque off of the wall? Double standards in sports fans! Say it ain't so! <_<

[Croatia National Team Manager Slavan] Bilic then went on to explain how Croatia's success can partially be put down to his progressive man-management techniques. "Sometimes I lie in the bed with my players. I go to the room of Vedran Corluka and Luka Modric when I see they have a problem and I lie in bed with them and we talk for 10 minutes." Maybe Capello could try getting through to his players this way too? Although how far he'd get with Joe Cole jumping up and down on the mattress and Rooney demanding to be read his favourite page from The Very Hungry Caterpillar is open to question. --The Guardian's Fiver, 08 September 2008

And here's more proof that Bonds is a jerk based on his own bad behavior not just on the rest of us "hating" him... :angered:

Bonds shows his true nature

He wouldn't sign his ball and yet he still made the fan sign a wavier because asking him to sign the ball was caught for Bonds' "reality" show. :cursing:

Would somebody please kneecap this :censored: man?

OK, I heard this earlier today and heres what I immidately thought about it. If Im Bonds, with all the torment he faces from the fans on the road, theres no way in hell im going to do any road fan a favor by signing the ball.

To be fair, I really don't think anyone here actually wants to see anyone get assaulted. Rather, from my point of view it's all out of frustration. Clearly we have a case here of Bonds doing something illegal and not getting any kind of consequences to speak of for doing so. He still gets to play, he gets all the money he wants, he gets the records, and despite any swipes he gets on the road, he gets the glory- God help us if the Giants were ever to win a championship with him on the roster, he's be even more insufferable then.

The man did something illeagal. It was against the law, period. And for those of you that say that there was no rule in MLB saying steriods isn't illegal, I'd like to point out that there's no specific rule saying you can't brain your opponent with your bat either- but if it ever happened would anyone be shocked if the authorities got involved?

In a perfect world, he'd feel guilty about what he's done, come clean, and hang up his cleats for the good of the game. But that's but a fool's fantasy. The reality is that baseball is a professional sport and a business before it's anything else. He wants what he wants and he's going to get by any means possible and so far no-one in any position that matters has really done much to stop him.

The point is the man cheated and continues to profit from doing so. The damage inflicted to his reputaion and integrity has already been done and I feel that tarnish is rubbing off onto baseball as a whole. He didn't have to cheat, as he already had the talent and an impressive career. But he felt he had a sense of entitlement because he saw others cheat too and not only get away with it, but reap benefits he felt should have gone to him. This doesn't make what he did any more right. He's a cheat. Some of you out there wish to bury your heads in the sand about it, but there's nothing romantic about this anymore. He's a blight on the sport. He's a current reminder out there that cheaters CAN prosper and profit. And while he's by no means the only one out there nor nowhere near the first to do so, he does seem to be one of the loudest, most obvious, and constant profiteers for doing so.

People want to see cheaters get their comeupance, and sooner rather than later. It probably helps that he was already a jackass to begin with. He's thus far avoided getting it in the court of law and he's avoided getting it from his guttless higher-ups in the sport. Anything short of a freak lightning bolt from the sky would have to involve something to happen during the heat of the game to halt his cross-country nose thumbing tour. And yes, I do think he gets off on putting a mark on the game even if it is a blemish. He did it. He's in control and HA-HA there's not a damn thing any of you can do about it. We want him to stop. We want him to go away. And we want it to happen while there's still a shred of illusion of what was once good about the sport.

Until that time, we can only hope fate might step in an do us a favor.

We all have our little faults. Mine's in California.

Whilst I agree to an extent, I only wonder why steroids is seemingly the only illegal substance MLB players partake in. For all the platitudes about ridding MLB of the steroid menace, the chorus of voices crying for MLB players caught using illegal drugs' statistics marked with an asterisk (if not wiped out altogether) is nonexistent.

Since people favouring putting Bonds down that way try to get around the fact that none of that was against the rules when he supposedly used them, their silence with regard to actions against players who used other illegal drugs, performance-enhancing or not, makes them look as though they're out to get Bonds not because of any higher purpose than he's a meanie who doesn't sign autographs or some other perceived slight, and are using the virtually unshakeable spectre of steroids because it's the only thing they can use that has the potential to stick, whether it's true or not.

So guys, does it feel good to beat up on a kid? According to his profile Maz1960 is 13 years old. He wasn't even alive when Bonds left the Pirates. So he messed up a few facts. We've all done it. There's no reason to light him up like that. Stuff like that makes the claim that there are "too many smart people here" sound a little hollow.

It doesn't make me feel one way or another, to be honest. It does sadden me tremendously that someone felt the need to post a factual error, then compound it by offering "first-hand knowledge" from a team employee about something that simply never occurred as a means of authenticating his view.

The fact that he's 13 has nothing to do with anything. Either he felt the need to exaggerate what he was told - perhaps thinking it would lend more credence to his point - or he knowingly invented a story to support his belief. No matter what, he got caught, then compounded the issue by whining over CC calling him out on it. He feels he's old enough to post on a board with mostly adult members despite his age, so don't use it here as an excuse for him.

I can't speak for CC, but I'd have said the same thing whether he was 13, 33 or 53. If you're going to pass yourself off as the most Pittsburgh guy here, shouldn't you know how your team's best player of the last 25 years left town?

In order for the Mets' run of 12 losses in 17 games to mean something, the Phillies still had to win 13 of 17.

I did not know Bonds was signed as a free agent.

The only reason i defended myself in the first place was because i did not realize what CC97 was doing was pointing out i was wrong about him getting traded. When he said "i remember as if it never happened" i thought that meant he didnt care if Bonds played for the Bucs. I DID know a man who was a batboy while Bonds played for us. He was my teacher a couple years ago.

I know i made a mistake. I know i looked like a jerk defending myself about something i was wrong about. I only did that because i didnt know i was wrong. Im sorry for what i did and will be more careful next time, and ill try to recognize when people are telling me im wrong. Can we get back to talking about Bonds now?

If someone cheats in order to break a record, then is that record really broken?

Past accomplishments do not excuse current follies.

If rules are not enforced because those that refuse to follow them are not being held accountable, then the entire institution loses all credibility.

Those that use loopholes as portals to avoid laws will also find they make good nooses.

It's difficult if not impossible to consider giving recognition to an acheivement if the means of obtaining it are forever tainted.

Well can't we assume that if the fan wanted an autograph, he wasn't going to give Bonds a hard time? If I want a favor, I'm not gonna be an :censored: to the person. I mean, at worst, he'd just sell it on eBay, at best, he's gonna save it as a memento of one of his favorite players. What did Bonds expect? Sign the ball, hand it back, only for the guy to go "MWAHAHA GOTCHA SUCKER!" and whip it at Barry's Texas-sized head? There must be more to this, because I just see another example of Barry being an ass to his fans, but this time it has the added dynamic of an ESPN guy popping out from behind a camera after Bonds shoots the guy down, going "here, sign this waiver. Oh, this is gonna make for great TV." But whatever, there's no point in arguing anything Bonds-related with you.

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

First of all, I'd hit Bonds in that stupid chunk of armor he wears instead of intentionally walking him. Why? Pitch counts; I'd save 3.

Second, we don't care about other drugs because they don't help you play better; a guy smoking weed or snorting coke isn't going to be better because of it

Third, when Bonds got hit in the head during BP, my only thought was how does that not happen three or four times a week with the size of that melon? Did you see the two trainers on either side of him? they needed Nextels to talk to each other across his dome.

That says a helluva alot more about you than it does some 13 year old kid. For the record expecting a 13 year old to think and act the same way as an adult is just silly. Like it or not you lit up a kid. Rationalize it however you want but the facts remain the same.

Just my opinion. :D
