Mac the Knife
Okay, Raider fans. Here's one that may leave you scratching your head...For years now, Al Davis has been listed among the members of the Oakland Raiders' front office as the "President of the Managing General Partner."It's not a typo. Question is: does anyone know why this is his correct title?
sc49erfan15
Because Al Davis is a nutcase?
NJTank
He is not the majority stoick holder but by the Riaders original owners he was given all the powers of the CEO. Coinceditly Davis may have a coup on his hands as his buisness partner are talking of havng him removed. www.sportsecyclopedia.com For the best in sports history go to the Sports E-Cyclopedia at http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com
Mac the Knife
Both provocative answers, but both technically incorrect.I may not have the name exactly right, but the Oakland Raiders are actually something like "Oakland Raiders, LP," a California limited partnership.Davis owns roughly 38% of Oakland Raiders LP through another company, "A.D. Football, Inc.," which is the managing general partner of Oakland Raiders, LP. Al is president of A.D. Football, Inc., thereby making him... you guessed it... "President of the Managing General Partner."And yes, some of Al's partners in Oakland Raiders LP are suing him. The plantiffs are the McGah family, heirs to the guy who back in the 60's owned majority interest in the franchise and was so off-the-ball that he let Al take over owning something like 10% of the team. This is something like their 3rd or 4th suit, trying to wrestle control away from Davis.
