Duane Kuiper's description on the television broadcast for Fox Sports Net will now be the only call of record.

incorrect. Rockies television announcer for UPN 20 sports Drew Goodman also made the historic call. I was watching the entire game from the UPN 20 channel, and when Bonds hit the shot he was calling the game too.

If only Bonds had been nicer to the media and bought his teammates a steak dinner, you'd drop the asterisk, right?

Im not sure I now think of McGwire as having an asterisk too and Roger Maris is the single season HR record holder without steroids.

But yes allot of my hatrid of Bonds is based how he has tretaed the media and teammates. He broght this on himself, and when he gets in the Hall I hope a legion of Giants fans can find their way to Cooperstown for his sake because he wont be a popular member if the Hall.

Read Game of Shadows you will learn what Barry is all about and has always been about.

Bonds is an ass, a liar and a cheat. I don't have to root for him at all. I don't have to root for any jerks or liars or cheats.

Bonds plays a sport whose purpose is to entertain people. Would athletes still play sports if there were no one to watch them or put them on pedestals? If it wasn't about the people and the money they spend to enoy the sport, there would be no free agents or obnoxiously large contracts.

So yes, Bonds owes it to the fans that support him to be respectful to them. Every professional athlete does. The fans wanted to like Bonds, he made it very difficult. Especially when his father died, the fans wanted to relate to him as someone who lost a family member. Bonds took some time off, then became an :censored: again when he was done grieving.

Bonds gets an asterisk next to his record. So here,s to you Barry.

Here's a few more.

I read some of that book. Bonds would go on terrible rages and harass the young lady he was having an "affair" with. Sometimes forcing her to do things and holding killing her over her head. If he wasn't doing that he'd have his trainer get more of the clear from victor conte, and would go on them for weeks, having abrupt lapses of anger. The Giants were also concerned why he was bringing his trainer in the dugouts, and had suspicions of steroids, since his trainer had been linked to them after they did research on him. He would constantly call the young lady, sometimes happy, and sometimes in a rage. She was losing time as a graphic artist, and was having trouble with getting money since he moved her from her firm in San Fran, to Arizona. I know i wouldn't want to ever be around him when he acts like this for sure.

Unless you have experience about being harassed and asked the same questions day-in, day-out, for over a decade, none of us should ever tell people how to act while the mic and cameras are rolling. I get pretty pissed at people who ask me the same question three times in a day's span, much less at least 162 times in 6-7 months.

Boo hoo, he's not a well-liked player. Big deal, his play on the field dictates whether or not he gets in the Hall, not how he performs as an interview subject.

Oh why not, I'll throw my thoughts into the fray. It's 3 am and I'm not tired yet.

I'm glad he finally hit it so maybe we can focus on more interesting things in baseball, like the resurgence of the Detroit Tigers. Bonds* won't catch Aaron and hopefully he will stagger through the rest of the season and uneventfully shrink into retirement with much less fanfare than the last few weeks.

He owes Albert Pujols two, if not three more NL MVP trophies.

The sad thing is, Bonds had the talent without the drugs. Apparently, being a 175-lb damn good ballplayer wasn't enough. He was driven by greed and perhaps a bit of racism. His jealousy of "that white boy" Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa in 1998 was allegedly the flashpoint he needed to gain 50 pounds of muscle in 2 years. He was listed at 226 in 2000. I'd say he was closer to 235-240. I saw him live in Baltimore in June of 2004. The man is built like an NFL linebacker.

I truly hope the things he put into his body over the years don't take his life as early as they did guys like Lyle Alzado. I hope he has many many years to think about his sham of a career and go to many Hall of Fame Weekends so he can sit in the same room as guys like Hank Aaron or Carlton Fisk and think to himself "What a fake I am."

That moment of truth will come. It will likely come at a time when he's sitting alone by his pool 10 or 15 years from now, but it will come. At that moment, if he isn't overcome with shame and eats a bullet, I'll be surprised.

I don't mean to sound over the top, but you just get the feeling when his career is over, the chip comes off his shoulder and he has a chance to reflect on his career, he's destined for a major emotional and mental collapse.

Even though he's a cheater and not a particularly nice guy, I'll feel bad for him then.

Well, now we can just hope the media will shut up until he gets closer to Hank Aaron's NL record of 733, as that's the next target.

You MUST be Australian.

EDIT: Wait, did Aaron ever play in the AL?

Well he is the one who decided to play baseball for a living. You know part of playing pro baseball is dealing with the media and being asked the same question. He knew what he was getting into after all he grew up around the game he knew dealing with the media was part of that.

I agree with you getting in the Hall of Fame shouldn't be about who does the best interview. It should be about the on field stuff. Steroids are part of the one field stuff. I think Bonds should get in but he should be held out until his last year of eligibility to make a point. McGwire shouldn't get in period. In his case he took Steroids since pretty much the beginning of his career. Bonds was already a Hall of Famer when he started to take the juice.

No, if only he reached 715 without using performance enhancing drugs.
