gueman Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 Ok gang, the Orioles wore an all Orange uni back in August of '71. I don't belive it was a special promotion it was just a really bad idea. Gee must have been some good weed! So... Is there any other one shot uni sets that have been worn only once and not a special promotion? Start googling! PackerBadger Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 One would be the Phillies' blood clot red ensemble. Wonder what Greg Luzinski looked like wearing red jerseys AND pants.
dfwabel Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 The Mavericks wore the "tin foil" uniform for the first game of the (2003-2004?) season @ LAL. Lost, and never wore them again. If I was wrong with the season, please correct me.

totc Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 White Sox short pants - only one game Actually, it was 12 games. The Orioles and Phillies were teams which asked to wear their BP jerseys as attempts to break losing streaks. The minor leagues are strewn with one-off jerseys which celebrate everything from Christmas in August for the Bowie Baysox to St. Patrick's Day jerseys for hockey teams (and caps for baseball teams) to Magueritaville Night where the Potomac Cannons would wear cotton tie-dyed T-shirts with pressed numbers on the back. The Colorado Rapids often wear red jerseys and blue socks on July 4, and last year, Chivas USA wore green jerseys and red socks to honor Mexico. And the Fire had a yellow jersey about two years ago to show its partnership agreement with the Morelia Monarchs of the Mexican League. And another one-off? The U.S. soccer team last Sunday. They'll wear the red "Don't Tread On Me" jerseys just once unless there is a competition which the opposition wears mostly blue -- if the next Gold Cup group the Americans are in has Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala in it, they'll wear the red. There were also the special Nike basketball jerseys with the silver shoulders -- which have now found their way into the Nike outlet stores! And most Turn Back The Clock jerseys are one-off. As well as the Turn Ahead The Clock MLB jerseys from 1999.

hormone Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 Don't forget those stupid one-sleeve color jerseys in college football. Although I think VT broke theirs out more than once. If you're looking for special jerseys, the WBS Penguins have about 200 different jerseys...especially for St. Patty's day.On topic though, off hand, how about the blue pants the Colts wore when Faulk was still there, I believe.
Byron19 Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 Actually, it was 12 games.I'm almost positive the Sox wore those things once. It may have been the first game of a doubleheader against the Yankees.

slapshot Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 Can you consider the Calgary Flames as part of this? It might have been for a few games, but the red jerseys with black lettering were modified to improve legibility. Back-to-BackΒ Fatal FortyΒ Champion 2015 & 2016
fleaster Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 How about the 1994 Phillies, who wore the Blue caps with the red "P" once, got killed and then never wore them during a game again?
philly97flyer Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 How about the 1994 Phillies, who wore the Blue caps with the red "P" once, got killed and then never wore them during a game again? No, they wore them for every Business Persons Special that season (mid week day game) and went 0-6, so they were done away with. Its a shame, because I thought they looked good, in a different kind of way.

Don't they still have black lettering? It's supposed to match the black logo right?I have a red flames jersey, no number though, I hate the black numbers on the red jersey, although I might get it customized soon... facespace?http://www.myspace.com/seancalcottmusic http://www.myspace.com/forgottentoys

ANGELCAT-IDA61 Posted June 4, 2006 Posted June 4, 2006 How about that hideous Anaheim Angels alterante jersey from 1997 with the navy body color and the phony periwinkle sleeves they wore for only one game in Anaheim against the Dodgers. I think those were auctioned off for charity, but being an Angel fan, I purchased that jersey to support my favorite mlb team.
ShaftDu Posted June 4, 2006 Posted June 4, 2006 didn't the twins have a red alt that they hardly used

The sleeve and back numbers are still black, yes, but the lettering on the nameplate was switched to white after spectators starting complaining that it wasn't legible enough.
