cubfan1985
I am watching the Cubs and Cardinals right now, and I've noticed that Michael Barrett is wearing navy blue gear, which is a departure from the Cubbie blue that he normally wears. He is also wearing a helmet that looks to be more of a navy blue. Does anyone know why he is wearing this?
NJTank
Their BP jersey and hat are Navy www.sportsecyclopedia.com For the best in sports history go to the Sports E-Cyclopedia at http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com
cubfan1985
Their BP jersey is Navy I know the BP is navy, but Barrett has traditionally worn "Cubbie" blue catchers' gear (shin guards, chest protectors, helmet), but tonight it looks as if it is more of a navy blue. Tazz013
Before tonight, he had worn gear that was blue with red trim. Tonight it was a darker blue with grey trim and accents. It looks like a completely different style. The new one looks like the memory foam design, and the old looks like the Orion.Old gearNew gear Save the slugalo.
CubsFanBudMan
The TV announcers mentioned that they'd received several e-mails.... I must admit I didn't notice until then.It didn't strike me as blatantly navy... even after looking at the photos. I'll have to check it out today. Tazz013
Wilson does make equipment in royal blue as well as navy blue. There is a definite difference in the color between the two, but it may just be because the old one faded from being washed or in the sun or because they have different fabric covers. Here's a better photo, along with another from a night game earlier in the year.http://tazz013.googlepages.com/Barrett.jpgLooking at some more photos, I see that he wore an orion style last week against the Reds and Braves that was "blue" with a while trim. Save the slugalo.
CubsFanBudMan
Here's a picture from Sunday of Barrett's gear. I think it's darker than the royal/red gear he was wearing, but it still doesn't strike me as navy. Looks like it goes with the rest of the uni fine to me.And Cubs hats aren't exactly a bright royal blue...And one more thing to point out -- despite the thread title, at no point were the Cubs jerseys navy this weekend, at least during the games. CubsFanBudMan
I posted here about this before, but I think 1994 was the year the logo on the pants appeared (hope my memory is still right).
The_Admiral
The Cubs greys need to be tweaked like I had sugested before: a more Cub-like city script, and a consistent blue w/red trim. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫
