Newmaniac Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 Walking down the Danforth in Toronto yesterday afternoon around 5:30 and saw this guy on a patio wearing the Jays graphite road jersey.First of all, it looked good and would've been a good alternate.Second of all, was it anyone from this board?
southpawstu19 Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 i would love to see a photo of the jersey, or a mock up of what the charcoal jersey combos would be....so if any of you wouldnt mind, it would be appreciated

Neon_Matrix Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 Here's how they looked in the MLB Style Guide: It would have been impossible to see those names and numbers... I'm glad they didn't go with those now. The numbers on the front doesnt work at all... Because Korbyn Is Colour Blind, My Signature Is Now Idiot Proof - Thanks Again Braden!!Go Leafs Go!
Neon_Matrix Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 I'm too lazy to edit, but I just found this on RiverCitySports.com Because Korbyn Is Colour Blind, My Signature Is Now Idiot Proof - Thanks Again Braden!!Go Leafs Go!
tBBP Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 Can someone answer me WHEN and WHY the BLUE jays went to using every other color they've ever employed in their palettes EXCEPT BLUE as their primaries lately? What am I missing here? Is it to generate more sales (fashion jersey excuse)? The graphite--okay, i can see that as a secondary color, but, oh, I don't know--how about a BLUE alt or a BLUE cap? I have yet to see either...oh, and how about BLUE numerals?Just me... *Disclaimer: I am not an authoritative expert on stuff...I just do a lot of reading and research and keep in close connect with a bunch of people who are authoritative experts on stuff. || dribbble || Behance ||

By taking away a Canadian identity it was designed to appeal to casual fans from its logo alone. People wouldn't be turned off by a maple leaf or other Canadian symbols. I know this because my mom talked to one of the top people in charge of the overhaul a few years back at a yom kipper party my relatives throw yearly. I was supposed to go...but I had a big hmwk assignment to do and I was mad after I didn't get to meet the guy. It was also done so if the team was sold, it could carry its existing identity with it to a new city and save money in having to do a uniform overhaul. The_Admiral Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 I never cared about the Blue Jays, but when they started wearing grey hats and grey numbers, I was sold. This was something I wanted to be part of. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

That explains dropping the maple leaf part but doesn't explain why Blue isn't more prevalent in the design.
TruColor Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 This has been done to death on this board, but here was my proposal for new Blue Jays unis (many others have done similar designs):EDIT: Oh, and the colors are Blue, Navy, Dark Silver and Light Silver...

I like everything you did but the repitition of the J with the bird. You have it in "Jays" you have it on the cap and you have it on the sleve. If you used some kind of Maple Leaf or modfication of the J logo then it would look great on the sleve. Maybe remove the bird from the Jays script...I just think that J bird appears too many times. Chief. Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 Well, as somebody has stated before on this board, the graphite isn't TOTALLY misplaced:But I still agree that more blue is needed because it is the blue jay's most prominant feature.
Braden Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 I have the Graphite jersey in question.I love it! It's my favourite jersey. Here is how it looks in person. You might recognize some of these guys.Notice that the extra graphite outline in the current grey road script isn't replaced with a different colour on the unused grphite jersey.
29a Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 That looks awesome in person. That guy on the far right, is that a fitted Jays blue hat or adjustable.I saw a fitted one once but never found it again

Wow its really dark...and doesn't come close to matching the hat... Nice nerd...er...cool member line up. It doesn't match exactly, but it's not completely off Neon. For some STRANGE reason, the Graphite jersey doesn't match the 2004-2005 Home Graphite hats, but it matches EXACTLY with the 2004-2005 Batting Practice Graphite hats.I always wondered why...They still look sweet BTW
NickNickNick Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 They match better then the damn ducks or vikings and any other team that tries to match a purple helmet with their uniform. Spoiler New York Rangers. Stanley Cup Champions - 1928, 1933, 1940, 1994. Saskatchewan. Cold. 1905-2022.
NDwas Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 Wow, Rogers Centre makes RFK look like a beautiful stadium. (Note: "Thanks for being a fan" on the video boards is speaking to the five fans in attendance.) If the graphites are that dark, were the Jays still thinking of using the black alts? They're practically the same color. The black alts (on the road only) happen to be my favorite unis in the bigs. They've worn them in Baltimore the last few nights, so I got to see them first-hand for the first time. They would look better with Toronto on the front instead of Jays, but that might envoke a Biggio-esque dilemma. Tomorrow's just your future yesterday.
