STL FANATIC
Is every team going to this? I assume so if the stubborn Yankees are. They are out there, but I urge everyone to remember that they are only BP unis.

Kevin Mets 99
From ESPN.comBatting practice is getting a fashion makeover. Teams will have new styles for their BP jerseys and caps this season -- the first change in the apparel line since it began in 1985. The Mets and the Orioles have the most dramatic changes, both changing from black to orange. :D :D
bosox
Orange? ORANGE? ORANGE??? Are they crazy!!??The Giants are the only team to countinue with the tranditional looking BP jerseys.
tmorss9
Those arent that bad. The orioles had something that looked like the giants one in the late '80's. orange could be bad, though. and the thought of new hats is interesting.

CubsFanBudMan
I'm baffled by this line that was in both the MLB.com story and the AP version:"It will mark the first redesign of the official BP apparel since it was created in 1985."I know they weren't wearing those all-mesh caps since 1985. No way.
Cianfrocco
They started wearing BP jerseys that were different from the regular game jerseys then. Â A lot of teams just used the same design as their regular jerseys, except with the mesh material. Â The mesh hats started in 1998(?). Â Before that, in spring training, players wore mesh adjustable hats, and normal fitted hats during regular season BP.

Cianfrocco
They started in 1999, along with the different BP coloured and styled caps.I thought it was either 98 or 99. Â On a side note, in 1998 the Mariners wore their alternate navy-silver hats for all of their Spring Training games. Â As far as I know, that is the only time a team wore alternate hats all spring before the adoption of mesh.
Snowcap30
i believe that the MLB is using different material on the bp jerseys to allows the jerseys to "breathe" it gets hot in florida and arizona so i guess they dont want ne thing to hapen (eg. football..but thats totally dif.)
