Worst NFL Logos

There's always time for another best/worst thread!

I dislike the Ravens logo for reasons mentioned above. In fairness though, I did like their original sheild logo. Had they properly paid for it, they would be among the best-logoed teams in the NFL, in my opinion. That said, I do like their Maryland/Raven shield quite a bit and wish that had more of a prescence. Oh well.

My least favorite, however, is the Titans. Just lame, late-90's pastel-colored nonsense. It will be changed within ten years and will soon be forgotten. The "Flaming Thumbtacks" moniker is about the only thing I've ever found interesting from Greg Easterbook, and it is certainly fitting.

I'm surprised the Eagles logo doesn't ellicit more dislike. I far preferred the old perching logo:

How is the Jets logo too busy.  If anything its plain.

You've got a "NY" that's the same colour as the background, save for a thin white outline, you have a football, and you have the word "JETS", all one on top of the other. From a distance you see the "JETS" and the football, and you can just make out the white outlines of the "NY" without being able to tell what it is. Either switch to the (NY) logo, or design a new one that actually uses the team nickname.

I don't think it matters if you can see the NY from far away. If your in the stands your not gonna be able to see most logos on helmets. I think its fine as long as it looks good.

Just a little observation, but this thread has produced some of the most offensive typing and grammar skills ever on this board.

And that is relevant to the topic how? You just wanted to see your name on the board...just be honest :P

Quite possiby the worst logo ever.

I agree. Georgia can do much better.

For the Packers, on the other hand, it's classic.

But if you look at the logos, it's usually the old-school teams (pre-AFL era) who have taken one logo and stuck with it - the Bears, Packers, Lions, Steelers, Eagles, Rams, Cardinals and, yes, Browns. Some of these have had minor touchups but it's still the same basic idea (wings on a helmet, a leaping lion)

Even the couple of changes - Giants switching from ny to NY to GIANTS back to ny - haven't fallen too far from the tree. The only heavily changed one is the Redskins (and not only is the current logo a revision of something they've used since the 1940s, but there is pressure in here to go back to the late-60s look.)

It's the modern logos that seem to draw more fire.

The Browns have to have a logo before it's considered the worst.

New England, the Titans and the current Atlanta logos are all pretty bad.

But this guy:

ugh!

No effin' way. Bucco Bruce is individual and classic.

100% better than the generic white surrender flag they've got now.

Brother, you are absolutely spot-on with your post.

I am with you on the Eagles logo, the flying bird and the older name font is so much better than the current set.

Hmmm...some hating on the Saints' fleur-de-lis but no alternate suggestions. It represents the city as opposed to the mascot and does it better than most logos do. If you go to N.O. you'll see lots of fleur-de-lis's there, and hey, check out the crown worn by the princess in Braveheart - I had no idea she was a Saints fan till I saw that movie. :P

As for bad logos, how about the Pats, Ravens, and Titans in the AFC, Eagles (secondary only, the helmet is a classic, great design) and the drunken-looking, stumbling Falcon (old one was much better).

The Eagles secondary logo is the poster child for the modern "cartoon" looking logo that's just awful.

If they found a way to use a flying eagle and still use that same eagle head in it with the old fonts that would be perfect

I don't really understand why the Titans logo seems to draw as much intense dislike as it does. Maybe someone can explain it to me. Is it great? No, but it's no worse in my opinion than the logo of any other expansion/relocated & renamed team since the 90's. I'll give you a few.

Baltimore: The shield with wings was kind of classy but too busy. That bird head is absolutely the worst. They should be ashamed.

Carolina: The moment I first saw the Panthers logo I couldn't believe they were going with that, especially since their expansion brothers in Jacksonville also went with a snarling cat head logo.

Jacksonville: The other cat head. The blue-tongued jag does nothing for me. Looks like a moldy biscuit.

The exception for the newer teams would be the Texans. The steer is simple and understated. Well done.

As for the established teams that made changes, there is a special place in Hell for the guy who came up with the current flying Elvis logo to replace Pat Patriot. And dishonorable mention also goes to the Eagles head. It's no coincidence that some of the best sports logos are some of the oldest. Don't mess with a good thing just to try to sell merchandise to kids.

You know, say what you will about America. Thirteen bucks still gets you a hell of a load of mice.

well, imo, the titans logo doesnt look half bad, i do believe the sword logo looks better, but it doesnt look bad

Packers-its classic, i mean, wat would it change too? there really is nothign to change it too, its just classic, sumthing that will never change

Bengals-The B logo is the dumbest logo in the NFL, however, there tiger head logo is really nice, and they should def. change that to there primary logo.

Ravens-Never really realized how ugly it was until i read all these posts lol, but the shield logo was bad and looked even worse on a helmet.

Atlanta Falcons-One of the best logos in the NFL, its sleek and nice, the color scheme is perfect and its got a fast, action oriented feel to it.

NY Jets-boring and busy at the same time, its too busy, but busy in a way that doesnt even add to the affect of the logo.

Chargers- one of the nicest helmet logos around, but i dont think the lightning bolt can stand as a primary logo by itself, they should change the primary to the shield logo.

Browns- they need a logo, they shouldnt do nething to there helmet, but they should change there primary to the bulldog.

Cowboys-IM not a fan of the cowboys at all, but that star is classic, in the same case as the packers, it cannot be changed.

Panthers- i think this is a pretty nice logo, if nething, its the colors, i think the panthers are one of the nicest looking teams in the nfl, but the logo isnt all that bad

the new falcon looks like it has a broken wing, the packers "G" is so geniric they should go back to their 50s running man logo'and bengals need to get rid of that "B"

As a Saints fan, I find it absolutely hilarious that some in the Falcons organization didn't realize the bird forms an "F", as evidenced by it facing the "wrong" direction in early pics of the coaching staff, which unfortunately I couldn't find.

I SECOND THAT.

Call it bias, but this IS classic, in my book. Even though I can't stand the Patriots, this and Pat Patriot are two of my favorites of all-time. Actual humanoids. How many of THOSE exist today???

Okay...see...you know what...no comment. Aiight--he ain't the most MACHO pirate of the lot, but he'd probably take that knife and cut or stab someone with it just the same...Bruce Bobbitt maybe? (Since y'all claim he lookin kinda brokeback)... :P

And dsgitlin had a GOOD point with that Eagles post. The old one had more of a "traditional spirit" about it. Not saying the new one is bad, though. As lledsunited said, it is a little--okay, a LOT cartoony, but so are so many logos that come out these days. But that's the way the industry's going, it appears...

(Aside: wonder why we don't see more letter-style logos? Not necessarily the Packers' "G", and DEFINITELY not the Bengals "B", which should be if anything a tertiary--the leaping Bengal should be the primary--but like the Giants' "NY". And someone had a point in mentioning whoever rebranded the Falcons could have taken advantage of the fact that the flacom does sorta form a "F". Some lower-level illustrator probably did do a rendition of the falcon as an "F" and then one of two or several of the bigwigs in the firm shot him down just cuz he was a "newbie" or rook and went with the design we see now--which ain't exactly bad, though.)

As for the worst NFL logo, I'd have to go with the Browns, I mean come on, your ORANGE helmet can't represent a team called the BROWNS

I agree with him. Bucco Bruce actually LOOKS gay. Like he'd go on one of those cruises. I mean, the winking, the eyelashes, the feathered cap... come on!
