New Oregon unis

I wonder how those ugly uniforms affect recruiting.

Oregon's rank in the Pac-10 (edit: click on the link that says 'Pac-10' in the table)

That Yellow helmet would be awesome without the grey facemask and with green instead. The ghost flames are actually kind of cool. As awful as the overall uniforms are, this is still an upgrade over the crap they wore last year. I wonder if they'll get them into NCAA 07 - although they could never have all the combos.

I feel bad for Oregon - they are supposed to be Nike's flagship school and instead they've turned into Phil Knight's testing grounds. While it's great to see something different, this just doesn't do it. There are little things I like - the white helmet, the 'Oregon' on the pants, and all the uniform combos (although get ready for some really ugly s*** when they start mixing up the pants), these are a failure overall. Oh yeah, the numbers are a joke too. Oregon needs to get off the whole superhero uniform thing and come back down to earth.

This was posted in the comment section on the uniwatchblog, and I have to say I couldn't put it any better myself:

"So, while I?m generally a traditionalist in Uni design (Penn State, Detroit Tigers, Red Wings, Celtics, etc) I LOVE what they are doing at Oregon. It?s a guilty pleasure, and I would not like it if everyone was doing it, but at least they are trying something new and different. It?s like the Honda Element and Scion xB ? you may not like the design, but you have to at least respect it for being daring and different. "

I might feel differently if it were MY school going all nuts with the design, but I gotta say I respect the freshness and boldness that Nike's trying to do here.

OMFG!! I'm a Cane fan and I've been pretty upset with what they've done to our team. This is utterly horrid. They have the 18-wheeler treads on them, the monochrome, and the yellow helmet....what a mess that is. Do I need to go on? Doesn't the picture speak volumes?

So theoretically the ducks could wear:

White Top/Black pants
White Top/Yellow pants
White Top/Green Pants
White Top/White Pants

Green Top/Black Pants
Green Top/Yellow Pants
Green Top/Green Pants
Green Top/White Pants

Black Top/Black Pants
Black Top/Yellow Pants
Black Top/Green Pants
Black Top/White Pants

Yellow Top/Black Pants
Yellow Top/Yellow Pants
Yellow Top/Green Pants
Yellow Top/White Pants

That's 16 different combinations of just the uniforms alone.

Throw in the three helmets and that's 48 Different Uniform combinations.

Divided by 12 regular season games.

The Ducks could "hypothetically" never wear the same uniform for 4 years!

Ouch.

You seem to have erred and put yellow outline on the white jersey. It looks much much better.

Disclaimer: If this comment is about an NBA uniform from 2017-2018 or later, do not constitute a lack of acknowledgement of the corporate logo to mean anything other than "the corporate logo is terrible and makes the uniform significantly worse."

OK. So besides the point these SUCK. Heres what I have to say

1. It could have been worse, see "asymetrical sleeves"

2. On the white jersey, is that a one or a seven?

3. If it were just the white and the green ones. (Far right) I might find it acceptable.

4. The white helmet does look pretty classy. Yellow one is a definite NOOOO though, uhhhh.. *shudders*

5. Good thing: Looks like they got rid of the goofy numbers from last year.

Oregon is going to get all the streetpunks in the country to play for them because of the appeal of these unis. Those players love those unis. They look tough, but I bet they like them.

As I always have to ask, why does Nike feel they have to reinvent the wheel? Nothing wrong with stretching the envelope, but these are plain ugly. Like teal, like harvest gold appliances, like the mullet, these will look embarrassing when looked back upon in 6-10 years.

Nike, fire your design director!

Okay, rather than going the "fish in a barrel" route with these, I'd like to bring up two points:

1. I'd like to commend Nike for implementing the "stretch twill" material for the uniform numbers. That seems like an advance which is way overdue, offering the quality of sewn-on numbering with the flexibility of a screen print.

2. Taking a look at the design elemnts just from within this uniform package and not relevant to the rest of the sane football universe, there is a major problem with the white uni. Namely, there is not a single spot of yellow to be found on it. If worn with the white helmet, Oregon becomes green, black, and grey. For a uniform package that is supposed to have unified elements throughout, this is a huge flub. The mockup Gothamite posted with the yellow outline on the numbers makes a marked difference.

Question to put out for thought:

Whos gonna take Nike Up on the diamond plate asymetrical stuff? You know some college will want some free publicity and will want to have their team switch. Miami? Some smaller school?

After studying those atrocities, my hatred can be summed up in three points:

1. The ridiculous steel trapper-keeper motif

2. The horribly stupid number font (probably the WORST i've ever seen on any uni)

3. The overuse of black. Since when did UO add black to the school colors? Don't think they ever did.

oh the humanity.....i'll be a senior this year at UofO - guess I won't be going to any of the football games....I'd hate to throw up on someone in the student section........

I know how you feel man.... I was at BYU when these monstrosities were introduced, and it took me 3 or 4 games to figure out who I was supposed to cheer for (BYU's switch not only included those stupid bibs, but they also went from royal to navy blue, with a blue helmet to boot). Looking back, I realize that these were just the tip of the iceberg.

At least we got Nike to give us our old uniforms back (though it took LaVell Edwards to pull some strings to do it).
