I know I am in the very tiny minority, and that this is an old debate, but I still think the Texans' logo is just too similar in concept to the U-Texas Longhorns.

And I realize that the Lone Star is the great and proud symbol of Texas, but does every Texas team have to feature a star? I mean, does every Canadian team feature a Maple Leaf?

Yes. It's like Canadian law or something.

I think it just looks clean and is an instant classic.

Living in Orange County, CA there is no NFL football, as you all know, but seeing that Reebok Draft Cap with that logo on it, I immeadiately ordered it for no other reason than it was just bitchin'.

I like it a lot as well, but like most others say, I wish they would reduce the size of it on their helmets. Just reduced 15% would be an improvement.

Oh no way. Thats another reason why its such a great logo. Its big and stands out. Thats another element about Texas, and im not really trying to be sarcastic when I say this. Everything's bigger in Texas.

It's timeless. Check back in 30 years and it will still look just as good.

As a die-hard Texans fan it was a relief when they unveiled the logo. It's perfect as far as I'm concerned and the uniforms only compliment it.

I disagree about the white helmet, I think the logo looks much stronger with the white outline. Without it the logo looks a little incomplete to me. It looks fine on t-shirts but the helmet never looked right to me when it was white.

And the size of the logo is as it should be. It creates a wrap around effect when viewed from the front.

Schtee, what ways do you see similarities? Other than the fact that the two are bull head logos, that's where I think the similarities end, but I do look forward to seeing your response on the issue.

As for the initial question, as others have already alluded to, the logo not only is eye catching in it's design, but it manages to show state pride and captures the essence of what being a Texan is all about.

It's truly one of the top 3 logos in sports in my opinion and I cannot think of too many that are better.

Being honest, when I first heard the nickname was going to be TEXANS, I was expecting the worst, but the logo really hit a home run and I see it being a classic 30 years from now that is still used.

I still think this logo is :censored:.

I love how the left side of the logo incorporates the Texas/Mexico border and the left side address' the Texas/Gulf of Mexico topography.

Man, this logo is just genius.

How any of you think this looks like UT is just lame.

And apparently, you've failed. You forgot the Arena Football Dallas Texans from 1990 to 1993, and the World Football League Houston Texans from 1974. Granted, the latter moved to Shreveport towards the end of the season, but they were just as important.

I mean, does every Canadian team feature a Maple Leaf?

Unfortunately, if alot of Canadians had their way, YES! I myself being a Canadian hate seeing elements of the Canadian flag on a Canadian team unless they have a patriotic name, like say, the Canadiens who ironically do not feature any Canadian elements to their logo/uniform.

If I have to hear one my Blue Jay fan cry about no red maple leaf in the new uniforms...

I understand why they chose the red, white, and navy blue as their color scheme. (Texas state flag colors) But not a big fan of those colors as they seem to be overused by sports teams. Should have come up with better colors. Maybe a Maroon, light tan with blue trim.

That's the color of the state flag though. And the American flag. And we know how American football is.

To me I love the logo for its simplicity yet conveying several statements (as posters have already defined).

The logo is extremely clean. Very easy to spot, very identifiable.

Now, the Houston Texans nickname, on the other hand, sucks.

Just what I was coming here to post.

Glad to see my opinion backed by such a competent authority.
