WHo was snubbed?

Who did the fans get right?

Should the fans vote even count?

Who should the SP's be?

Do you like the idea of the Final Vote?

[The Monster 2006 All-Star Final Vote balloting program will determine the final All-Star player in each league. Players were nominated by 2006 All-Star Game managers Ozzie Guillen and Phil Garner, in conjunction with Major League Baseball. For more information, check out the All-Star coverage on MLB.com.]

Honestly, I don't know what to think of the whole All-Star voting process. You want to keep the fans in the game, and let them see the players that they want to see play. Yet, most of the time, the players picked are ones from teams with bigger fanbases, or were once superstars but haven't really amounted to things in the past 2, 3 years. Due to this, some rising stars who are having excellant seasons, are snubbed from a selection.

Of course the fans should vote for who gets to start, but they shouldn't be the only voice in who starts. Give the fans a percentage, like 40%, of the weight for picking the starters, then 30% by the players themselves (a player cannot select himself), and the other 30% going to GM's and the managers who aren't coaching the game (ie: Ozzie Guillen, Phil Garner, and their All-Star assistant managers can't be involved in selecting the starters).

I'd keep the one representative from each team mandate. This is, after all, a celebration game for the fans. You'll lose interest from the markets where they have no representative.

I like the Final Vote idea. They are giving 5 players who deserve to be there one last chance to be voted in.

However, the All-Star Game shouldn't be having a bearing on deciding Game 7 of the World Series.

The AL Lineup has 3 Sox, 3 Yanks, and 3 Non-Sox/Non-Yanks (Vlad, Ichiro and Pudge)

The NL Lineup has 4 Mets (Paul Lo Duca, Jose Reyes, Carlos Beltran, and David Wright) and the remainding players are a hodgepodge group (Pujols, Jason Bay, Soriano, etc).

The Pitching staffs are as different as night and day: The AL is lead by Chicago's Mark Burhele and Minnesota's Johan Santana (What? No Liriano?? That guy is just as good as Santana). The bullpen is a literal Firing Squad lead by Mariano Rivera and Bobby Jenks.

The NL pitching staff has Pedro, who may not play in the ASG (Again), and some others. The Bullpen isn't as strong as the AL bullpen.

Reserves are named and some surprises in the NL. No Bonds, No Griffey, No Piazza. That, to me, is odd. The AL Reserves have some good names as well. Of course, Gary Matthews got in thanks to that grab yesterday against the Astros.

OK so basically it's the team of Red Sox/Yankees/Blue Jays/White Sox vs. the Mets. Hurrah.

Pedro makes it but Chris Young doesn't. The NL Needs FOUR third basemen?! If this goes into extra-innings I hope they can pitch.

The Tigers have the best record in MLB but only Ivan and Kenny Rogers are worthy of All-Star nomination. The Padres are in 1st but again only have one deserving player...a closer. Turnbow makes it as a reliever with a 4.00+ ERA. Forget the fact that he leads the league in saves.

Also, what can be done for these middle relievers who have become increasingly pivotal in baseball the last 10 years but who apparently aren't good enough to be considered for the All-Star game. For instance, year in and year out Scott Linebrink has put up great ERA and has been a great part of the Padres bullpen but he'll never in a million years make an All-Star team. WTF?!

Get rid of the fan vote. The problem is a lot of people voting are just the casual fan who isn't paying attention to who is doing well and is just voting on names or it a person just voting for play on their favorite team.

Who deserves to start more than Beltran Wright Reyes and LoDuca

Brian McCann or Michael Barrett instead of Paul LoDuca at the catcher position. The other 3 are quite deserving.

Yeah I agree. Wright, Reyes, and Beltran are deserving but i about puked when I heard Lo Duca was starting.

There should be some kind of test for fans to take in order to vote.

That would weed out the casual fans and allow the knowledagble and not-so-homer fans vote on the starters.

AS for Liriano not making the team...you can vote him in with the Final Vote.

I think Verlander is just as deserving though.

Im surprised nobody has said Bay doesnt deserve to be starting.

My brother has been saying that for the past three weeks now. But, I never really pay any attention to him anyways. :D

I tend to agree. Phillips is having a great year. Dunn I can see avg being a problem and with him and Kearns I think it's just a matter of the OF being too crowded in the NL. Still, both of them are better right now than Bonds. Unfortunately, Bonds career stats take precidence with most fans. Just like Ozzie Smith late in his career, Bonds will be voted in until he decides to call it quits. I think the same will go for Jeter and ARod. Lucky for them, they're still putting up numbers. Even if I think Glaus, Lowell and Crede deserve to start over ARod and Tejada deserves to start over Jeter. Just my humble opinion.
