Rockies all purple caps?

amen. As a rockies fan, i've always loved their look. They went with a classy look from the start, and haven't changed. Unlike other teams that came in during the 90's, d-rays, marlins, d-backs. Also, the purple cap was a short time thing. They didn't really wear them at home, but more on the road, maybe 2 seasons? I do remember going to a game where they sported the purple caps, but they were wearing the purple alts.

I'm probably in the minority on this but I actually like the purple alt jersey. The most interesting thing about Rockies jersey's is that the the silver outline on the numbers is not from a black number being placed on a silver number but a silver border placed on a black number.

Only time i ever remember them wearing the purple hat was in San Francisco last season with the new black alt jerseys and a purple undershirt.

You can say they went classic, but all they really did was copy the White Sox uniforms and try to jump on the huge White Sox/Raiders Starter hats and jackets craze. That is why I think they have always been reluctant with the purple.

I for one like purple in moderation. I think foundation wise, the Rockies have some nice ideas, but overall they not have a good uniform, it has no character. That is the White Sox uniforms, not he Rockies. They need to mix it up a bit. Also for the life of me, I will never understand why 80% of the teams use that font for there numbers. It is ok, but why not try something with a little more character?

funny the Paleys were mentioned. that's always been true, from the back you can't tell the difference between a Sox home and a Rockies home unless you're close up and can see the color of the pinstripes (obviously, black=Sox, purple=Rockies) Their pinstripe vest looks so much like a Sox retread it's not funny.

I'll try to find a pic of the all "Purple" cap in game action.

As someone posted before, if they did wear them they usually did so with the alternate Purple jersey (which by the way they have not worn at all so far this season?? have they been ditched in favor the the Black sleeveless alternate?)

I'm pretty sure that they wore them on opening day 2004 and/or 2005.

I don't know. I never smoked AstroTurf. ~Tug McGraw, when asked if he preferred grass or artificial turf.

Overall the Rox have a very nice look - I even like the black vest jersey that has COLORADO written across the front.

If I would do one thing to change things up though, I would remove their pinstripe look entirely. I would also have the word ROCKIES on their home sutis in purple and oputlined with black - same for the numbers and letters.

A few months ago someone created this excact look in the concepts area of this website and it came out exceptionally well.

I would also include a purple hat for the home uniforms and the black & purple hat for road uniforms...I for one like the purple/black hat - very sharp IMO.
