Welcome to the board, Longhorn. Those forum etiquette sticklers will get you every time!

Etiquette guys-- It could have been worse--he could have not only replied to and answered his own post, but he also could have quoted his original in his reply. I've seen it done before...

Then it would have looked like this:

I don't know if this has been posted before, but with huggins as the new coach air jordan is designing new unis for the wildcats of kansas state.
Ya everyone is very excited down in Manhattan to see what they will look like. Its a new age for Wildcat basketball so the new unis are fitting.

Totally off the subject - why is it that teams that wear purple have such a hard time matching their tops and bottoms?

Here, K-State's jerseys and bottoms look like different shades of purple, much like the Lakers of the 80s did. It never appeared this way on TV, but still photography always looked mismatched. And it never seemd to happen to any color but purple.

OK, but to the regularly scheduled thread.

Huggins won't last more then 3 years at "State". He's already up to his old habits. I have many friends in Manhattan and they've seen him in the bars on numerous occasions already(closing them with barkeeps I might add). There's nothing to do in Manhattan besides get drunk. The farmers in Manhattan think he's the 2nd coming because he has a few top 10 recruits interested. The key word is interested. Once this kids from the urban cities see Manhattan, they'll turn around quicker then a Mormon at a porn convention. I'm all for competition and K-State trying to keep up with KU, but Huggins isn't their answer.

That's because K-States jerseys were supposed to be a different shade of purple than the shorts. That is the way they looked going back to the 1940s, way back when baskeball shorts were that satin fabric and the jerseys were made of durene. I don't know if the original purple jerseys faded or if they were always supposed to be that way, but the mismatched purple became K-State's "traditonal" look that was carried on into the early 1980s when this photo was shot. I don't know when this look was dropped by the school in favor of a single shade of purple.

I could be mistaken, but I believe K-State also wore the purple shorts with their white jerseys until sometime in the 1970s.

Now regarding the Lakers, you're right that they showed up differently in some color photos, probably due to differences in fabrics between the shorts and the jerseys, kind of like the old Vikings jerseys where the "dazzle" fabric shoulders and sleeves were a different shade than the mesh jersey body.

That guy's pretty good, huh? I'm sure glad the Knicks drafted him.

Light purple, practically lavender, was used by KSU in the 70's and early 80's in addition to a more "standard" shade of purple. The 'Cats football helmets were a grayish purple for a number of years and, yes, the basketball tops were intentionally a few shades lighter than the shorts. It was a unique look and quite visually appealing, at least in my opinion.

K-Staters....Glad that you have Huggins, and UC doesn't anymore.

Have fun with "Huggs Thuggs" that he brings in as players.

The police blotter will be published in 4 volumns:

The Off-Season

The Pre-Season

The Regular Season and

The Post-Season.

If only if Huggins would have coached at Fordham or Florida before he coached at UC and K State (inside joke).

Well, so the majority in here are against Huggins. But, how 'bout talking about what you guys think these should look like

:P jk

With Huggins and Nike (I'm guessing he took his contract with him.), they will probably be either black or as dark a shade of purple as you can find. And, they will be the most hideous looking jerseys that they can find.

Looks like Pooter was right. Thanks to Uniwatch.
