Discrim
I liked those as well, but I think we're more or less alone with taht opinion. 9 outta 10 posters here despise these (heh, can't imagine why)
CC97
man were those uniforms awful... the roads were even worse!Grey with pinstripes and blue sleeves with big Disney Angels logo on the front? No thanks.
swilson160
Those were terrible...they should have stuck with the old ones with the A hat. I know they kinda went back to them, but the all red just doesn't do it for me...too Rangers or Cardinals for them.My solution is this:
Eye
They should have never changed...These ones are sweet That sleeve logo was horrendous. I did not like these jerseys and the year they switched to what they currently have, they won the World Series so I can't see them going back to these uniforms anytime soon or ever for that matter. Mings
I honestly never minded them. The Primary logo was a nice modern (maybe too modern) logo. The Home unis were good, the road wasn't so hot, and they had a different alt every year which wasn't good. I think the reason these unis got such a bad rap were the unis that came before them (the Angels in the Outfield unis) and the ones that came after (The Todd Radom revamped AITO unis).I still honestly hope the current unis go the way of the Yankees and stay the same for many years to come. Beantown77
That Disney era set was horrible - glorified softball uniforms. The set that preceeded them, now that was a great bunch of uni's.
DG_ThenNowForever
That Disney era set was horrible - glorified softball uniforms. The set that preceeded them, now that was a great bunch of uni's. Agreed 100 percent. I thought these uniforms, for the 13 total seasons they wore them (1961-1970 and 1993-1996) were among the best in the league. I do like the red look now, but I absolutely hated the Disney uniforms. The first two pro games I ever saw (in Toronto and the Bronx) featured the Angels winning both times in terrible, horrible, childish uniforms. The pinstripers were bad, the cartoon angel wings were bad, and the addition of baby blue was unwelcome. And in case you needed another reason to dislike those uniforms, here you go:Worst. Free. Agent. Signing. Ever.EDIT: Actually, according to baseballreference, his Anaheim years were actually pretty good. I guess I confused his Angels years with his two seasons with the Mets:In two seasons with the Angels, Mo hit .276, averaged 150 games per season, and 33 and 36 home runs. Not terrific numbers, but certainly not terrible.
LMU
As a life-long Angel fan, I have to say that the faux-vest pinstripe look was just plain embarassing. Their current look is as close to perfection as possible.

The 1993-96 look was perfect (see the Cal Ripken 2130-2131 games, for example). My problem with the compromise is the red alt with the red cap. To me the Angels are supposed to be in navy caps with red bills.
oz615
That Disney era set was horrible - glorified softball uniforms. I made references to this in a similar thread last year, but i remember seeing the Nashville Sounds wear the Disney-esqe Angels style uniforms from '99-'02,and i didn't like them at all. Korkie
I liked the '93-'96 era, but I am a sucker for the '80s-early '90s look:I guess it's because these are what I grew up with, but I just love these and their simplicity.
BBM
LOL I think this thread should be inside the "guilty pleasures" one .Those Angels unis weren't that hot. Personally I like their current set best (even better than the early-mid 90s). Nice font, logo, streamlined color (just red!), it looks pretty sharp if you ask me. SabreGuy
I never did really like those Disney unis, but I kind of always dug these, even better than the all-red...
Sodboy13
The early-to-mid '90s Angels uniforms were the best they've ever worn. The Disneyfied things they took the field in were an abomination. The only good thing to come from those were the navy alternates, and that's only because I'm a sucker for sleeve numbers.

Home caps can have red visor

These uniforms were outstanding, classic baseball uniforms, but what they have now is solid. These Disney uniforms tried to hard with the number font and the colored sleeves. The other thing is that the Angles are the "halos" not the "wings." Dumping the halos is like taking the wings off of the eagles helmets and replacing them with the sleeve logo.

RickV
The "Disney" uniforms WERE very much Mickey Mouse. Putrid to the core. The best ones were the early 90's, they were about as perfect as you can get, and as said before, the current set are solid, except for the solid red caps, they should be navy tops with the red bills, or solid navy.
