Fred T. Jane
well the yankees didnt bring him in to get 50 hr's and 100 rbi's they got him for an upgrade over bernie williams....especially in the field...so don't get your panties in a bunch boston fans...i've never seen an upgrade scrutinized so much You haven't looked hard enough. Maybe Capello could try getting through to his players this way too? PaperAirplane31
Well, as a Red Sox fan, I am VERY scared about Abreu's power numbers this year.....277 AVG, 8 Home Runs, 65 RBIs, and he hasn't hit a HR since June. Damn! He's a power machine! In other news, the Red Sox trade AA pitcher Luis Mendoza to the Texas Rangers for RHP Bryan Corey.Either expect a HUGE deal outta Boston, or nothing at all either tonite or tommorrow. Abreu has played since ?96. He has 198 career home runs and 841 career RBIs. That?s only averaging 20 home runs and 84 RBIs a year. The home run derby was a fluke. Well this year's performance has broughten down his average! I don't think Abreu will be able to handle the spotlight of NYC either.... Broughten?? 2000?? If you wanna talk World Series slumps I've got plenty of Red Sox jokes.

To be honest, I really wouldn't expect anything of a blockbuster status out of the Red Sox. At most, they'll make a semi-major move to acquire some relief pitching. Maybe something like giving up a Mark Loretta or Coco Crisp to get someone like Scott Linebrink. The biggest name out of Red Sox camp that you'll see moved is Trot Nixon, I think (though I've heard some rumors of Keith Foulke being on the move...who the hell would take him at this point?). NDwas
CF Johnny DamonSS Derek Jeter1B Jason GiambiDH Gary SheffieldRF Bobby Abreu3B Alex RodriguezLF Hideki MatsuiC Jorge Posada2B Robinson CanoThis is worth waiting a year. Replace Sheffield in RF? You thought TO was bad for the locker room, wait until you see how Sheffield reacts to that news. I did not make that lineup, ESPN.com did. And if Torre can handle the minor league mess this year has been he can handle a few lineup changes. Actually, ESPN had Sheffield at first and Giambi at DH, with Abreu in right. That wouldn't work either. John Kruk is a moron. Tomorrow's just your future yesterday. Audiodrama
Alot more rumors floating around (to follow up on what I posted before) about the Red sox unloading Mark Loretta and landing Julio Lugo, along with some pitching. FiddySicks
The big the in this deal IMO is Lidle who gives the Yankees what they need a starting pitcher who can eat innings. I can see someone else was also listening to ESPN radio this afternoon. No matter how you feel about the Yankees, the fact is, they basically got two of the Phillies top players for a bag of baseballs. fiasco!
they optioned Chris Shelton to Toledo to make room for Casey. Great move.gives shelton a few weeks to bring his confidence back up on minor league pitching before re-joining the team for the final playoff run. But the Yankees need was aboviuse they only have 2 pitchers that cna go deep into games and that's Wang and Mussina. The other you are lucky to get 6 inning out of them. I try not to listen to the national radio stations, I hate them. I guess that's becasue I grew up in NJ where there was WFAN which had nothing but local NY sports talk radio. I do occasional listen to the Jim Rome type shows if I'm driving down here near Tampa but that's because there is nothing else here but 1 sports talk station and they only have 2 original local shows the rest is either Jim Rome or Fox Sports Radio which is the worst ever. If I'm at home I listen to WFAN over the net.
