Football Uniforms Past And Present, the site

Did anyone manage to archive this site (http://www.athlegraphic.com/FFP/) before it went kaput?

Web Archive is no help as they are missing a LOT of pics, and I was hoping that someone has "saved" this site somewhere because I am attempting to create some uni combos in Madden for use in my own custom league based on those of the past, and this site would have been a big help in doing that.

So - can anyone be of any assistance, or am I just out of luck?

Is there any particular reason the NBA, NFL and NHL don't do this on their own? Dressed to the Nines is a terrific resource and I just don't get why the other leagues don't supply images of past uniforms.

Their respective media departments could put this stuff together. I know they have graphics interns that need things to do. Why can't this be done?

Same reason our AFL doesn't, there's no money in it.

for hockey:

www.nhluniforms.com

and

www.whauniforms.com

i don't think even if the nhl or hhof tried one, it couldn't top these. even better than dressed to the nines, imho.

i can help on the pre-1959 nfl/aafc unis, but it will be awhile till i get there. i am just too swamped with life right now.

rumered has an incredible site on the vfl/afl jumpers and will pay him homage at this time!!

I think it's because in the case of the Dressed to the Nines exhibit, all the research and work was done outside the league. As far as I know, Marc Okkonen had no connection to Major league Baseball...he was just an outsider with an interest in the history of the league's uniforms, and published his own book documenting his work.

In a way, the Baseball HOF was lazy...they just copied his book and posted the graphics online as part of the exhibit. And where his book stops (sometime early 90s), I think that's when MLB started producing its own style guide, and so the HHOF used those graphics to continue the series.

I don't know why the other leagues don't have extensive uniform reference guides as part of their sites. The NBA is the only one that seems to acknowledge that genre of "fandom", but even then it seems to leave it to the individual teams to display them or not.

What teams and years are u looking for.I saved a few when I was gonna do some custom McF figures

Not looking for anything specific, really - just wanted a reference to see what all the teams wore over the years so I could see what might look good in the game.

Yea, already done them, with a slight alteration :)

Though I've since changed the home and alt pants to white (since that is what they actually wore in 1962), and the alts to yellow pants, . :)

Appreciate the look through your library. (**)

How do you create new uniforms with the existing team logos in Madden? Whenever I create my own uniforms, it only gives me the option to use the "generic" logos (same logos as create a team), not the team's current or historical logos.

Those yellow Steelers helmets look wicked!!!

You have to have "artwork" files associated with whatever team you create in Madden.

Every team has a "set" of 5 files that you can import into the game, but they must be in specific folders first.

I think there's a tut over on football-freaks.com that explains it in better detail than I can. :)

According to the book, Okkonen researched the project in conjunction with SABR, so I don't know if he's a member of the organization or not. That may at least explain the connection with the Baseball HOF.

Excellent find

Does anyone know who is now hosting this?

Perhaps it could be a project for us to get it back up to date.

I'd have a crack at it with the right template.

Cowboy Kevin, timmyb and I are already doing this. Kevin's got all of Craig's images, and is creating the missing images from the time Craig stopped through the present, and timmyb's doing an amazing job recreating the historical sets...

I've been swamped (again), but I plan to start putting the pages together soon on the SSUR...
