Fantasy logo - dragons

-(dp)-

Recommended Posts

A while ago, I drew a sketch for my fantasy football team, the Lansing Dragons. I didn't have a vector program, so I asked for help. Thanks, marqdesign and robert89 for trying to do the logo for me. Anyways, I heard about inkscape, and got it, so here is my try at the logo. I am pretty happy with it, but would like to make it better if I could. Please tell me what you think, and what I can do to make it better.

Good looking start, I must say. Here are two things I noticed:

- Try to use various shades of green(kind of like the gray in the horn) to create shadows/highlights...it'll give it some depth/realism

- I'm not sure how this'll work, but maybe try to lose the thick black outline on each piece, unless you're going for a cartoony look.

Have you tried giving the dragon a pupil in his eye?

Right now it just looks kinda blank to me.

I tried it, but didn't mess with it a lot. I might try some more, but it seemed to look better without one. It makes him look more creepy.

Here is the logo with some minor changes along with one with a different color scheme. Please tell me what you think, and what can make it better.

I like the green version, but try to do something with the eyes. And maybe make the horns black or white.

Do you have any suggestions on how I could do the scales? I think it would look weird if the scales are too detailed. I will try to work on the logo some more tonight, but I would like more suggestions.

to be honest, I think it looks good as is without the scales. I would just try to give it a little more of a reptiallian look when it comes to the eyes.

Lookin good man, I like it, mine was more of a cartoonish look, but you got it... anyway the only thing that stands out to me is the shading on the beard, it seems like it should be flip-flopped as far as the colors are concerned, but thats just me....

well, I am glad you guys like it. For some reason the eye still doesn't look right to me, though. Also, does anybody know if there is a way to get more fonts for inkscape? Any help is appreciated.

I think you should make the entire eye orange with the pupil.

You've got it down pretty well but overall i think it's lacking that Dragon fierocity....I think for one the neck is slightly too thick....i would recommen bringing the bottom part up a bit (where the dark green and light green meet) and actually making the light green part smaller/thinner....I would also make the head more rounded....start from the top near the back of the horns and round it down into the neck which would bring the neck down and thinner as well....also I would add some sort of ears....reference dragons in something as simple as google and you'll see that most dragons if not all have a scaley fish fin type of ear....other than that its looking good....also if you really want to bring in the orange I'd add it in a bit more abstractly maybe switch that with the light green or maybe us it as the shadowing (that's just an after thought though) but...its looking good...and you can see it's getting better and better....good job!!!
