Is A Fully Cusomizable Football Game Coming?

Hey, have you folks been keeping up with 2K Sports lately? Lately, there's been a lot of speculation about a new generic football game, with customization galore. On the 2K Sports football forum (http://www.2ksports.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=13), they've been running a contest for new team names for a "hypothetical" generic football game. Yesterday, a forum moderator posted an official cryptogram that serves as the first clue to what is going on. This morning, the cryptogram's answer was given by Forum Admin, and it points to this website:

http://www.geocities.com/genericequalsbalance

Go to that website and and the only statement is

"Generic Equals Balance...

Imagine a league where every team is equally as good as the other, where each team has strengths and weaknesses, but no team is truly better. Imagine a league where the teams are tailored to YOU - where everything about the game is about YOU. Imagine a league where you can change EVERYTHING. Imagine a league created by fans, for fans, and through the toolsets of 2K Sports. Imagine a game that can be played out of the box, but can be so much more once you start thinking oustide the box.

Imagine Generic, Generic Imagines... So fill on out, I come won."

That last sentence appears to make no sense, but is probably the next puzzle to be solved.

Anyway, this is exciting news for me. They haven't officially announced a game yet, but this is intriguing. I'd much rather have a full customizable generic game than an NFL game anyday. Can you imagine how much fun it would be for all of us to be able to put our concept ideas into a video game? I realize Madden for PC had this ability, but the options are very limited as far as what you can do with the unis.

This could be awesome, what do you think?

College sports as we know them are just about dead. The lid is off on all the corruption that taints just about every major program and every decision that the schools or the NCAA make is only about money, money, and more money. We'll have three 16+ team super-conferences sooner rather than later, killing much of the regional flair and traditional rivalries that make college sports unique and showing the door to any school that doesn't bring money to the table in the process. Pretty soon the smaller schools are going to have to consider forming their own sanctioning body to keep the true spirit of college sports alive because the NCAA will only get worse in it's excess from here

Have they done any clubs for CA yet? Because these are the names that I would like to see them use:

Anaheim Piranhas

Los Angeles Coyotes

Oakland Slashers

Sacramento Grizzlies

San Diego Breakers

San Jose Condors

They did one for LA, but I don't remember which team won.

[Croatia National Team Manager Slavan] Bilic then went on to explain how Croatia's success can partially be put down to his progressive man-management techniques. "Sometimes I lie in the bed with my players. I go to the room of Vedran Corluka and Luka Modric when I see they have a problem and I lie in bed with them and we talk for 10 minutes." Maybe Capello could try getting through to his players this way too? Although how far he'd get with Joe Cole jumping up and down on the mattress and Rooney demanding to be read his favourite page from The Very Hungry Caterpillar is open to question. --The Guardian's Fiver, 08 September 2008

Because it's not available in stores.

Well, as we all know, my copy came directly out of the Immaterium... To say that I bought it from the website provided above would be the height of folly...

The answer has come. All it appears to be is that the moderator is starting a site to campaign 2K to make a generic football game. I am sorely disappointed. I had no idea.

I am truly very sorry and apologize if I got anyone excited about a game that is not coming.
