A former U.S. player himself, Brooks was the last skater to be cut from the 1960 U.S. Olympic team, the most recent one to win the gold medal before Brooks became the team coach. He cobbled together a group of players and taught them to excel at the European game. Even so, the Russian team had won four consecutive gold medals and was so good that it defeated a team of National Hockey League all-stars. The U.S. team wasn't expected to even make the medal rounds. But led by Brooks, the team defeated the Soviet Union in the semifinal round, then bested Finland in the finals to win the gold.Download the trailer:http://bvim-qt.vitalstream.com/Miracles/Mi...ailer1_3000.mov

Notch Novelty
Are you kidding me? I hope your joking. '80 team was greatest story ever and the biggest upset in any sporting event. It looks good, I watched the trailer and I hope this will bring patriotism back.
Roger Clemente
Well, I guess this is probably one of the better stories more worthy of a movie, but I hate how America makes movies about practically anyone in the news. Jessica Lynch. Elizabeth Smart. Martha Stewart. Those Pennsylvanian coal miners. Why? Why? WHY?!There is nothing more Hollywood than a gung ho American. That line "USA vs. the world" just made me think "wow, more typical American arrogance." Believe me, you don't need more patriotism.--Roger "Time?" Clemente. Notch Novelty
The movie is made for Americans to watch it. So why wouldn't you want to make a movie that Americans would be interested in? I'm glad there is a hockey movie out and I'm glad it's about Americans winning, I love it. We had a planes crash through buildings, buddy. We need all patriotism we can get.
Roger Clemente
And the day after they crashed, patriotism hit like an all time high which as far as I can tell hasn't subsided. And whenever it wains, they bring up 9.11 again and it's stars and stripes for everyone.--Roger "Time?" Clemente.
jkrdevil
RC, there's a differnence between this movie and the others you mentioned. The ones you mentiones were made for tv movies, which are required to suck. . This one is a real movie. I agree with you there thier are too many made for tv movies. Networks should stick to regular progamming. Although there is now a problem with tv dramas ripping off the news.  Back on topic though. The Miracle on Ice, was great because it went beyond sports. It was a great moment in the Cold War. It desereves a movie 24 years after it happen. It's not like this was made 2 months laters like the Tv movies you mentioned. As far as Patriotism, everyone should have it. There's nothing wrong with having pride in your country (whatever on it is) and showing it.
Notch Novelty
There was a movie about this out, called Miracle on Ice starting Steve Guttenburg came out in '81Your right, JokerDoes anyone have the movie, "(The) Rookies" I can't find it anywhere, it's a hockey movie. I'm trying to collect every hockey movie.

Phil
Coming next... a movie about LeBron James' life...I saw the trailer today for "Miracle", and I was thinking, can you really make a movie about a single team, in a single game? (Okay, if you're Disney, you can make 3, and name a pro team after them, but go with me...) It's a great story, really it is, but it looked very cheesy in parts ("win one for your country" etc.), and IMHO it didn't deserve a movie.I am reminded of the CBC.ca Instigator Comic about this... good for a chuckle. What you won't see is a Hollywood movie about the 2002 Olympic Hockey tournament. I wonder why...
tmorss9
realistically speaking, and I'm not trying to be unpatriotic or anything like that, but I think it bears mentioning that the USA/ Soviets game might have had a different ending if Tretiak had stayed in. At that time he was the best in the business, and we all know what that kind of goaltender can do for a team. I still don't think that it has been explained why Tikhonov took him out. And I'm all for a 2002 Olympic hockey movie. I forgot to log in, I'm accepting responsibility for this post. I guess I just didn't want to look like a USA bashing spineless jellyfish. GMac
Or if they didnt do a 2002 movie atleats do the Summit Series that had more emotion and story that the "Miracle on Ice". And just because they defeated all odds doesnt mean much the same can be said for Belarus against Sweden in 2002, where we all learned the best way to beat Tommy Salo is to bank it off his head.K as for the US' recent patriotism overkill... I know that 9.11 was a tradgedy the U of R literally stopped that day because of the shock of what happened... but really you are not the first country to have attacks of that magnitude, the middle east has had bombing for years, educated people strap bombs to their chests for religious and social beliefs, and Im not trying to be anti-US with this next comment but for being a leading military superpower you guys really need to learn to quit hitting civilian and allied targets (like canadian soldiers)so yeah... ill get off my soap box before the debate really starts
tmorss9
To get back on a lighter subject, Mac's right. A summit Series movie would be awesome. Obviously the US studios wouldnt touch that, but it would be cool if CBC did it.
zer0dotcom
Summit Series would be a goodie. Why hasn't anyone done a hockey movie about Canada against the World, or something like that? well, we were in teh Mighty Ducks 2....in an ad saying that we lost and are losers, but that didn't stop Wayne Gretzky for dropping by to say hi to team USA
CC97
There's no movie about anything related to Canada because Americans want to see movies about Americans in America.... so the world has to see the same thing... fancy concept. It's funny, a good chunk of movies get filmed in Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal.... yet none of them ever take place there. If I remember correctly I think most people were happy that it was gonna be blown up. ???

Notch Novelty
What's your point Chris??????????If you don't want to see it than don't see it, works too. If I was making a movie about USA '80 team I would want Americans to see it and not some upset Canadian.
