white outline ?!?

no way..

the removal of the outline has given Syracuse the BEST uniforms in all of college football.

Perfect in every possible way.

I second that.

On HD, they were flawless.

I can agree with you too as well. These uniforms are great brings back the old school imo, and with the grey facemask , for some reason it makes them look outstanding. Better that the futuristic uniforms. Old school all the way.

I have to say, I thought they were tremendous until I saw them on TV in non-HD--the bleeding between the colors (and I have a very good TV with digital cable connected with component cables, a pretty damn high-end setup for standard TV) made them painful to look at. It's a shame, because up close (and in HD, I guess), they are gorgeous.

As a Syracuse fan, I can say those are garish.

Was this another of Daryl Gross's brilliant ideas? Or was this a Nike deal? The basketball uniforms have already been ruined (the orange uniforms are terrible).

Memo to whoever came up with this design: Bright orange on Navy blue (with no white outline) don't work.

If it doesn't work, how come so many people here think it does?

(and it's "doen't work," not "don't work")

Why does the boards opinion only matter if it backs your stance?

The way I see it, college, and some pro teams have finally got the idea. Go traditional, stay traditional. No need to change. The orange, navy, and gray facemask is a classic, classic look, and one of my favorites in college football. The old time look can never die IMO. Teams always end up reverting back to their old look. The Bills should go back to the OJ era, the Browns look great, Eagles need to go back, Cowboys need to go back. In college, Penn State looks awesome, it's just a plain white helmet/ navy stripe and mask, and white pants. But if you turn on your TV, and see those uniforms, you immediately know that it's Penn State. Great uniforms don't need extravagant striping, swooshes, or one colored sleeves, as long as they stay old school, they're good in my book.

i actually liked them better on the tv screen (non-HD) than i did in pictures of the release. in the game they looked really good, and i agree with the people that put them among the best in college football. oh yeah, the helmets are pretty damn sweet too.

When I saw the pictures a few weeks ago, I thought the orange wouldn't be light/bright enough, but after watching the game in standard and hi-def, I think those unis are awesome. Too bad the new duds didn't help them put the ball in the endzone after 8 tries inside the 5.

Anyway, I've never liked unnecessary white outlines--if the Minnesota Gophers ever add a white outline, I'll be pretty angry.

I couldn't watch that game. I don't know if it's my TV or what, but those looked like red-orange on dark navy on my TV.

Ugh.

Not only that......There were better games on.

I have about the furthest thing you can possibly get from HD... I have a 10 year old tv with a rabbit-ears antenna! And I think the 'Cuse uniforms looked BEAUTIFUL. I actually had no trouble at all reading the orange numbers on blue, and if anyone was going to have trouble with that, it was me, the colorblind guy with a low-tech TV.

They didn't look good to me yesterday, but I'm an Iowa fan.

Now that it isn't gameday, my honest opinion is that they look pretty good.

Probably some of the same people that think the Cowboys (with their 13 different colors and cheap looking white jerseys) and the Bills throwbacks (just because, well, they're throwbacks) look great.

The orange numbers on navy blue jerseys looks bad. I don't care how "nostalgic" they are. They are a bad football team with ugly home jerseys.

Syracuse's basketball road jerseys are awful as well. Navy blue numbers on orange jerseys 'doesn't work' either. Want a comparison?
