whitedawg22
ESPN.com just did this a couple months ago. They picked the best player for each number 1-99, and then did some sort of ranking of numbers overall. I'm not entirely sure, but I think #32 came out on top. oh ,my god ,i strong recommend you to have a visit on the website ,or if i'm the president ,i would have an barceque with the anthor of the articel . BBTV
This should be in the sports section. I think the mods are able to make that decision, but thanks for your post.Back on topic:I don't have stats to back me up, but it seems like 32 is a number generally reserved for great players. Off the top of my head, HOFers Marcus Allen, OJ Simpson, Magic Johnson, Steve Carlton, Sandy Kofax, etc. Even star players that weren't HOFers (Ricky Watters, There are certainly some scrubs that wear 32, but more often than not it seems to be worn by a star. FiddySicks
personally, when i think about the most dominant #s, 42, 99, and 3 instantly comes to mind. Sure they ahvent been worn by a whole ton of stars, but to have that # retired by an entire sport is a pretty amazing feat in itself. I think a better variant on this topic would probably be "most popular #s by position", in which case I now #12 would be it for a QB, #32 for RB, and wide receiver could really be a jump ball between #80 & #88. NOw D-line? Different story, but it seems to me like #72 is used quite a bit. LB? #56. *Disclaimer: I am not an authoritative expert on stuff...I just do a lot of reading and research and keep in close connect with a bunch of people who are authoritative experts on stuff. || dribbble || Behance ||

Roger Clemente
Here's a way to find out...1. Take, say, the top 100 players at each position in each league ranked by whatever the most important stat may be. 2. Reverse the ranks, so whoever was ranked number 100 will be number 1 and whoever was number 1 is now 100.2. Take those rankings and organize them all by the jersey numbers worn by each player in each list.3. Add up all the numbers for each jersey number. Whichever jersey number has the biggest total wins.(Note: if any player appearing in the list enjoyed success with more than one jersey number, you must divide his stats up accordingly and include him twice in the list if applicable.)--Roger "Time?" Barry Zito #75 is one of them. Chan Ho Park wore #61, as does (or did) Livan Hernandez. And if Turk Wendell's still around, he was baseball's #99.And speaking of future dominant QB #'s, I think it may go by year or something. Last year damn near every QB who was drafted took the number 6 (Cutler, Whitehurst, I believe Kellen Clemens had it too). But yeah--Rottthllsburggher, Leinart, Vick and Leftwich (until Losman actually does something, he does not qualify for this discussion) are making a strong case for the #7. Just like Bradshaw, Doug Williams (before he went to Washington), Namath, Staubach and Kenny Stabler made the case for #12 back in the day.Now here's a good brainpicker: what's the RAREST number in football period and by position? As best as I can remember Troy Polalalu may be one of the only #43's in the NFL (I know Jameel Cook wore it when he was with my Bucs). Mike Alstott, Jon Ritchie and James Hasty are the only #40's I can think of in recent years, and I don't know anyone who wears #46. Does anyoen besides Stephen Davis use #48? And how about #49 (besides Tony Richardson)? Also, when do you think we'll see another #1 at QB again a la Warren Moon and Jeff George? *Disclaimer: I am not an authoritative expert on stuff...I just do a lot of reading and research and keep in close connect with a bunch of people who are authoritative experts on stuff. || dribbble || Behance ||
