A decent design that fails because the blue jersey incorporates no white, which is obviously a key color in the home jersey. That stuff always bugs me. Like 1 out of 47 designs can pull that type of thing off, most can't. The Sabres never did. They didn't look ugly because that type of striping can't be ugly, but I wouldn't say they looked good. The white wasn't anything impressive either because the colors didn't stand out enough on it.The logo was not and is not a great logo though. It's great in every conceptual form, but it has to be executed better to be a great logo. A white buffalo above crossed sabres in a blue circle is a ridiculously awsome idea for a logo for the team. When they had it before, the drawing/execution of that idea was only alright. Now, JS has pretty much perfected exactly how that idea should look and turned it into an awesome logo.If only the Sabres had been smart enough to listen.As it is now, they'll probably end up sticking with the new crap (and I mean crap when I say it), or they will go completely back to the old crap.Both would be disappointing, because niether are great designs.They had a chance to take all the good things from their identity history and make something new and awesome with them. With that said, I like the jerseys, the blue better thanthe white but as a wole I like them. I think the number font is cool andlike the blank bodies. Reminds me of Nagano 1998 jerseys. I understand and likehow they're trying to match the jersey stripes up to the pants, its good ideaand I can give them credit for trying something new. My beefs are with the socks and the right chest number. I wish the white socks had the color on the bottom, not the top, they look upside down to me. The number on the chest is extraneous and what really gets my peeved is that Larry Quinn made a big deal about how they would have something no else does. And all it ends up being is a number, woo-hoo big flipping deal.But of course I absoltely HATE the slug!! I hate that's it's yellow, I hate that it's wearing a lone ranger mask, I hate it's bronco meets patriots swoop. It sucks!!I will not buy any merchandise with the Sluggalo on it. If they had gotten thisright they could have counted me in for a H&A authentic, but not now. I'll sport my CCM blue jersey from 1995 from here on out. When you see the players wearing the new uniforms skating next to the players wearing the throwbacks, the throwbacks look nothing but old. If I had enough money, I'd be glad to sport one of the new jerseys. Call me an idiot, tell me I have no taste - bring it on.And as for Flyers fans, well, it's a case of "what have you done for me lately?" Nothing more, nothing less... This logo isn't for the Sabres, it seems to be for a non-existant fanbase in Georgia or California, a corporate entity in Boston, or for a small group of Sabres fans that will buy anything because they support the team.Reebok didn't listen to the market and that is exactly why this thing is so bad. Of course there will be a few that buy the new jerseys, because they're fanatical and need to have everything that the team merchandizes, but for the vast majority it doesn't represent the Buffalo Sabres.On first inspection it does not resemble a Sabre OR a Buffalo at all, instead it looks like a slug. Given that the team is not called the "Slugs" this logo cannot possibly be called a good representation for the team.The jerseys themselves are a mess. There's way too much detail and striping under the arms and nothing on the torso area.
