NY METS NL EAST CHAMP GEAR

Watching the Mets celebrating their NL East Division championship tonight and this team can never get a fashion item correct.

Never mind that they wore that hideously awful black uniform top tonight - but in addition ther championship hat and shirts are AWFUL.

The championship shirt? Grey, with what else, black sleeves, the Mets NY logo tiny in the center of the shirt...just a terrible shirt - it looks nothing Mets like, if you know what I mean?

The hat?

Blue?

Orange?

Those are the Mets colors right?

Nope!

A faded charcoal gray cap - wth the NY logo in orange (very small) and to make matter worse, the hats don't refer to the Mets being the NL Division Champions for 2006 - instead they simply say "Division Series 2006".

Huh?

This franchise sucks when it comes to their look. They have one of the best logos in all of sports, one that has endured for almost five decades - yet thery never seem to be able to understand the heritage and the tradition of the organization itself...and worse yet, what they broke out tonight should be stuffed back into whatever box it came from and sent back for some REAL championship hats and shirts.

AWFUL!

Dude, the team has nothing to do with the championship shirt design. They are all designed by the companies that produce them. The team doesn't design the shirts. Plus they are probably all gray, meaning every team's championship shirt is going to be gray as are the hats. It's like that every year in every sport.

Okay so when the Yankees wrap up the AL East in a matter of days, their hats won't even make mention of that fact that they have won yet ANOTHER AL East title?

Even so, whomever is responsible for developing those hats and shirts should be fired.

The MLB logo stitched into the bill and the double logos on the front make it a horrible design.

Get rid of the stitching on the bill, put the team cap logo on the front center and the Division Series logo centered above the adjuster and you have a nice looking cap.

The color doesn't bother me at all.

Save the slugalo.

Honestly, it's not THAT bad. I'm not going to buy one, but it's not horrible.

Seriously, who buys divison/conference championship stuff? Either wait for your team to win it all and buy THAT stuff, or they lose and then you get the division stuff for way, way less.

I have a Houston Astros New Era League Champs lockerroom hat from last season. The hat only has a small circle glued on with the Astros star on it. They do stuff like this so they can make all this stuff in advance and when the teams are known, they can simply glue on the logo to the blank. It allows companies to get the merchandise out quicker.

Just like the black jersey tops, the awful Mets dugout jacket, and that awful NL East championship shirt, the hat, in a word, is AWFUL.

Calm down. Its not the end of the world. If you don't like it, don't buy it.

Damn.

Okay whatever - can we agree that the design looks like crap?

No.

Considering the design has to fit every team in baseball, I say that they're pretty good.

Simple, yet effective. Good color scheme, bold graphics, maybe a little busy but much less so than previous years' designs.

If you want something in team colors, the Mets have given you that as well....

About the only thing I don't like about that design is the MLB Authentic tag, the MLB logo alone would have sufficed.
