DBacks on top, Astros on bottom:

What a  :censored:ing joke.

On the Mac I'm looking at, the one on top is red, and the one on the bottom is orange! *LOL* Yeah I know these monitors at school need to be calibrated to REAL colors! *LOL*

I don't know why you guys all think they look so similar...its Sooooo obvious that the D-Backs' black is darker than the Astros' black. DUH!

:P

I'm going through the whole posts of this topic and if my Buccos are getting red, then I'm seeing red! Unneccessary...we are black and gold. We have a unique set in MLB and it's very nice with a lot to do. I say...Use the Bucco that's been posted (minus red). Have the home/road. Have a black jersey with the current font. Yellow numbers/white outline and a black hat/yellow brim. If you wanna get crazy...go Yellow with white pants. It's unique. Black numbers, white outline and a thin black outline. Heck, even go with the yellow hat/black brim.

F Red. If I had any skills, I'd mock these up, but 1) I lack artistic ability 2) Have no programs 3) Have no time. So it's just up to my imagination.

Here's a good question.

Which caps are being discontinued, and I already know that all the old 5950's are getting retired. I mean which designs/colors will be no more.

From what I heard the 59/50 are not being retired. Instead, the underbill is being changed from grey to black. A friend inside MLB said that the inscription by players (number, initials, etc) are getting out of hand and changing the underbill was one way to eliminate the problem without getting into potential backlash from players and media. If they are going to change the hats the way I have read, then I purchase any hats at a clearance sale and not purchase another one.

On the changes:

Diamondba..er, D'Backs: Color=Yes (tho, too close to the 'Stros, but I feel more fitting for them THAN Houston). D-Snake looks cool, but I maintain my stance the a single letter monogram on a hat should be the Location, not the nickname (Alt hats are fine, tho). Also don't like when the logo is a darker color than the hat. If the brim were black, then it'd be okay, but a black logo on a brick cap, just doesn't look right. Kinda liking the font and numbering, but not too thrilled with "D'Backs" on the home. It'd be fine on an alt., but not the everday homes.

Overall grade: B

Reds: Dissappointed to see the black still there when it was SUPPOSED to be changing, or alledgedly, anyways. At least it's been toned down. Again, kinda liking the new font and numerals. Hopefully there'll be some piping on the uni's

Overall grade: B- (partially due to the "leading on" of the disappearing black. ditching black would've been automatic A)

Supposed Jays Cap: No details needed.

Overall grade: Z-

As for the supposed Pirates red alt, on the initial listing of possible teams, didn't whoever (sorry, can't remember and don't feel like sifting back thru 11 pages) say it was NL, which I know the Pirates are, but the only 2 NL teams listed were Cardinals and Phillies, and someone else said of the teams listed was it. So.....what? If it IS the Pirates, automatic F. Ditched the red only to bring back as Alt. vest only? Not a good move.

I'm out. Peace.

Do the Reds' hats have red bills?  Is there any piping for their jerseys or pants?

The home is all red and the away is Red with a black bill.

How did you find out about the black bill on the road cap? Not doubting ya, just can't tell it by looking at the style sheet. Is there more info available than what is available on the style sheet?

It's just a black hat with a stylized "T" from the away jersey wordmark without the bird on a black hat.

I have the new packages for the D'Backs and Reds for next season and would be happy to share them with everyone. But I don't want to do it if it will get this site in trouble. If I am allowed to post them, I will. If not, I won't.

sorry edit

Yeah same here n/m

The Phils are one of the few clubs whom I don't want to see in an alternate uni of any type...just home and road. I think that should stand for clubs like them, the Yanks, Giants, Dodgers, Red Sox

True, true, I take back about the red alt uni.

But IIRC we are gonna see all new batting practice stuff? Well I can hope for a blue phillies hate, kinda like early 90s hats.

I thought they were going to a "more breathable fabric"

Black underbills will not prevent writing messages, they will just used colored ink. Selig is a bigger idiot than I thought if that is the thinking behind the change.

*jumps up and down, up and down* Yes! this means the Rockies now hold sole possesion of the "Purple Team", so no more sharing with the D-Backs!!!!

Their looks are really classy, except, the reds, please, why didn't you drop the black, and go all red? Then you would be the sweetest mutha fu***** team in the league, but.....ya blew it!

Examining the Diamondbacks' and Reds' new style sheets, and comparing them to some of the other current teams' style sheets, a couple things can be safely established:

1. Neither team will be wearing sleeveless vests

2. Neither team will be wearing pinstripes on any of their uniforms

What's unknown, at least on the Diamondbacks' uniforms, is what color the undershirts, stirrups and belts will be on each uniform. It should be safe to assume it will be brick red on the homes; there's a chance it could be black on the aways. In the case of the Reds, it's pretty safe to say that those colors will be Red (ad I assume they will be de-emphasizing black). Also, with the Reds, it should be safe to assume the number placement on the jerseys will be exactly as they are on the current set (and the way it has been for decades).

Does anyone know when each uniform is expected to be officially unveiled?

The Diamondbacks stuff is AWFUL on so many levels.

Besides the obvious houston ripoff, the entire package is terrible.

A team should not be able to just go and change its entire color scheme. Colors are a team's identity.

The Cardinals are red. The Yankees are blue. The Dodgers are blue. That's how we identify these teams with so much history.

Now you think of a team like the Padres, and what do you think of? Sand? Yellow?

Orange? Blue? Brown? Who the hell knows?

The purple fit the Diamondbacks because it was a tribute to the original team of Arizona, the Suns. The teal was a tribute to the Native American tribes of Arizona, and the copper was a tribute to the state of Arizona, the copper state.

Overall, the colors worked for the team and all had a meaning.

The only reason they are doing this is because Ken Kendrick, the big joke of an owner that he is, has such a deep hatred for all things Colangelo, that he has to change the identity of the team.

There already is a fan backlash in Phoenix over the non re-signing of Luis Gonzalez. I can't wait until the media here picks this up...The team will not have any fans left!

Kind of shallow fan base then.

I hate the new Jays look, but I'm still a fan.

It's Phoenix.

There are no real fans here (other than the Suns). No other team has been here long enough to build a true fan base. You go to the baseball games and half the people are wearing the other team's jerseys.

Most people, like myself, rooted for a team (Cardinals in my case) their entire lives. Then in 1998 the D-Backs started. I root for them as my home team, but I can never abandon the team I was a fan of my entire life.

Phx is a bandwagon town.

The Suns have been here since 1968 and really are the only local team with a true following.

Plus, most people in Phx have moved here from somewhere else. There are very few of us Arizona natives around.
