jkrdevil Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 They have Kenny Rogers on their staff, they will be out in the first round. Unless of course they play the A's in which Oaklands inability to win a playoff series trumps the amount Rogers sucks and cost his team big games does.
NJTank Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 They have not clinched Division yet, but its a great accomplishment for a team that lost 119 just 3 years ago www.sportsecyclopedia.com For the best in sports history go to the Sports E-Cyclopedia at http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com

Hey there, being originally from Detroit, I have a slight tie to the Tigers. I am glad to have one team to cheer for in the playoff, possibly 2 if the Phillies (who happen to pay the bills foor me for 9 months of the year) win the wild card.
BPenix Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 Baseball fan wise, this is probably the best moment ever. (so far of course) I was 1 the last time they were in the playoffs and the first year I really started following them a lot was 1994, which was the first year of this long losing streak. I really can't believe we're going to the playoffs!

fiasco! Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 i say let the naysayers continue talking. the tigers have proved everyone wrong all year, and i hope to god they continue to do so. this season is kinda bittersweet for me, because i'm not actually in detroit to enjoy it. i guarantee that i will be in detroit if the team makes it out of the first round.this team is for real, and if they can keep their staff together along with their nucleus, they'll be contenders for a long time to come.go tigers!!! If the Tigers do clinch the division this week, I will definitely be in Oakland/LA/Anaheim for the Divisional Series. This is definitely the greatest moment in my personal sports history as my Detroit Tigers are finally going to the playoffs. The only thing that can top this off is a World Series Championship. GO DETROIT...PLAYOFF BOUND
budbowl77 Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 Yankee fan here...anyway congrats to the Tigers..enjoy it while it lasts.
See Red Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 Congratulations to the Tigers. The true fans deserve it. I'd like to see 'em win it all for the fans like Joel. Hope you get a chance to check out one of their playoffs games in person.

Hope you get a chance to check out one of their playoffs games in person. funny thing is, I think only few people here will root for the Tigers even if they had another dissapointing season, here you'll see fe true fans that supported them even when they lost 119 games and few people who will sport the sig throughout the playoffs and I think the most vocal people are myself, Joel and ROCHitman.
Swiss Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 Hope that the Tigers will go to the playoffs... they deserved too much being there... and I like them since my Red Sox and Giants went on a meltdown. It's great to be young and a Giant! - Larry Doyle

HedleyLamarr Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 Detroit reminds me a lot of the 1991 Braves.Watch out for the Tigers: they're ignorant to playoff pressure. Just like the 2005 White Sox, 2003 Marlins, and 2002 Angels.....
waggie Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 Congrats Tigers, hope to see you in the ALCS @josh_j12 CFA- Fargo Bobcats
