rtrich11
Chief, I suggested wearing the Hawaii shirts to school, but you're letting this eat you up. The school year is long and things'll happen. Don't put yourself in the position of his revenge for the next 8 months if you are caught too aggressively trying to knock him down. Especially with the administration right away. "Hmmm...Where did my art files go? Hmmm...why is my locker glued shut?", etc. You only brought this up a few days ago and already there is, as you said, a buzz about this at your school. Let things happen, and watch. cafepress.com/artbyrichards

Besides, it's much more fun to watch the buzz grow throughout the year... I can't wait to hear the reaction the Hawai'i merchandise gets. --- Chris Creamer Founder/Editor, SportsLogos.Net "The Mothership" • News • Facebook • X/Twitter • Instagram

UnderDogX
Well, well, well.....look what I received in my email this morning!!!"Thank you for informing me of the logo on my football website. Yes, it was re-colored right here in our very own webteam class. As the main purpose of our site is for the students of Hays High, it?s always good to have someone remind us to be professional and consider the rest of the world as potential viewers of our site. Currently we are designing our own logo for the football site which will be posted very soon so you can ?once again smile.? However, I do not feel that you will be able to sleep easy at night knowing the other schools are committing this same atrocious violation of the law. Here are four other school potentially infracting the law with the use of logos on their school website. We will be informing them of the likelihood of you contacting them very soon and asking for a similar apology. Keep up the good work in keeping our internet safe! Sincerely, Michael Selby Hays High Webteam EditorIncluded are websites of the schools and the corresponding sites showing where their logo was taken from.Claflin High Schoolhttp://www.claflinschools.org/http://www.sportslogos.net/logo.php?lo=2508Woodrow Wilson High School and Garden City High Schoolhttp://www.wilsonhs.com/pageone.phphttp://highschool.gardencity.k12.ny.us/http://www.sportslogos.net/logo.php?lo=2625Bennington Public Schoolshttp://www.benningtonschools.org/RunScript...alendar.asp&ap=http://www.sportslogos.net/logo.php?lo=98g...rrvjzxph8"hmm...I say contact Hawaii and let them sort it out

UnderDogX
Oh I got that feeling too that's ok though...although I sent the email initially because I was pissed that it happened I'm thinking that I'm not going to allow this little pr**k to mock me or the seriousness of his plagiarism.....the best part is though is he uses this site to showcase the logos the other schools are stealing from
mania
Well that guy was certainly full of himself.BTW, since someone brought up Union and Miami...I know Wikipedia's not the most accurate source a lot of the time, but..." * The University of Miami sued the district because its logo, a broken U, looked almost exactly like the Hurricane logo, which is also a broken U (the only notable difference was the color scheme). Union Schools has to pay the University of Miami approx. $1000 dollars a year for its use of the broken U logo."http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Union_School_District,_Tulsa Off The Top Rope: A Pro Wrestling Podcast

It's like at first he was professional and greatful, then he started poking fun at the situation (i.e.: you can "once again smile"). At least he finally admitted the logo was stolen. Good job Underdog, something is finally being done (I hope).
iowahoo
The dbag webteam guy makes a good point in that tons of high schools 'borrow' logos- the old UNC ram, the Georgetown/Georgia bulldog, the K-State power cat, the Wisconsin motion W, the clemson paw etc. Why was a blind eye turned in the past to the borrowing of the logos? Did the colleges see it as 'free' publicity for their own logos? Just curious.

I cant speak for the rest of those schools, but I know that K-State willingly licenses their Power Cat out to High Schools for $1 a year.... Thats the way these schools should be. Miami charging a school district $1000 for its helmet is absurd....
Chief.
What he needs to understand is that no matter how many schools do it, it's still against the law. Plus, that stolen logo is on our:-I.D. cards-Football pictures-Various parts of the website-And now it's in the Hays Daily NewsIt needs to stop. Backdraft
What he needs to understand is that no matter how many schools do it, it's still against the law. I was by no means defending his choice to plagiarize. I was just saying that the colleges, who make millions off of their merchandising, should be more lenient with licensing their logos to high schools, who even if they market items with the logo will probably not even make $2,000 a year.... So long as the school isnt trying to pass their merchandise off as the colleges, these colleges really need to lighten up. K State has the right idea. It seems a majority of the students are angered by the fact that this student plagarized, when it's strictly forbidden in any English class. I doubt that. When you search "sports logos" on google, this site's the first one on the list. I mean, the site name sportslogos.net seems like a very obvious choice for a logo source. doafhat
Miami charging a school district $1000 for its helmet is absurd....Well it's not just the football helmets, Union uses the logo on just about everything, so I'm not shedding any tears for them losing just $1000 a year in the deal. Union has been selling merchandise with "The U" on it without (and now with) Miami's permission for years, plus Union is probably the richest school district in Oklahoma, and maybe one of the richest in the whole country, so I'm sure they can definitely afford it. They probably make up the royalty charges alone in merchandise sales at the Union team store located in their new $22 million basketball arena. DelayedPenalty
I read through most of the posts on this thread (I just started reading today), and I didn't notice this brought up but forgive me if it has. You said you have a logo set that you would be willing to sell the school. Did Captain Ripoff get any compensation for this logo he "designed"?
