OMMF
VANCOUVER, BC - Ron Robison, WHL Commissioner and Vice President of the Canadian Hockey League and Ron Toigo, Championship Chair of the 2007 MasterCard Memorial Cup unveiled the new CHL MasterCard Memorial Cup logo today in the 2007 host city of Vancouver, British Columbia. The 89th edition of the MasterCard Memorial Cup will take place from Friday, May 18, 2007 to Sunday, May 27, 2007. All games will be played at the Pacific Coliseum on the PNE Grounds in Vancouver, British Columbia.?The new logo design prominently displays one of the most prestigious and coveted trophies in the game ? the Memorial Cup? commented Ron Robison. ?We believe this new brand will generate even further excitement in the event as we build toward the hosting of the best ever MasterCard Memorial Cup.Ron Toigo also presented the theme for the 2007 MasterCard Memorial Cup ?We?re Up For the Cup?. ?We?re preparing to host the most successful MasterCard Memorial Cup Championship in the event?s history,? said Toigo. ?Our message to Canadians is ?We?re Up for the Cup? in Vancouver and our fans are geared up to cheer on and celebrate the next wave of great Canadian hockey talent.?The new CHL MasterCard Memorial Cup logo was created by Vancouver artist and designer Brent Lynch. The logo features the Memorial Cup trophy, emblematic of the highest achievement in Major Junior Hockey; the Canadian Hockey League icon reflecting the governing body of Major Junior Hockey in Canada; the MasterCard icon identifying MasterCard as the title sponsor of the Championship; the poppy to commemorate the Canadians who sacrificed their lives in World War I and a place card to personalize the logo based on the host location for the Championship. The Memorial Cup was donated in 1919 by the Ontario Hockey Association and is awarded annually to the Canadian Hockey League?s national champions. For the 2007 MasterCard Memorial Cup the artist has incorporated the skyline of Vancouver, British Columbia and the team colours of the host Vancouver Giants Hockey Club. The ?We?re Up for the Cup? theme was created by Harfield & Associates to combine with the new MasterCard Memorial Cup logo which will both appear on street banners around Vancouver, on advertisements, printed material, signage, and in all the activities hosted during the Save On Foods Festival Week at the 2007 MasterCard Memorial Cup. slapshot
I didn't like the old logo, same thing every year except the city name was changed. Sounds just like the Grey Cup logo, without the city name. Back-to-Back Fatal Forty Champion 2015 & 2016
