Brendan
storythough Madano hasn't been captain that long this is still shocking. it is like taking the c away from Yzerman. Madano is the best player the stars have ever had and is tbe most recongized hockey player in Dallas. Why would you give to a younger player who proboly isn't as good of a leader. make him a assistant if you want. But you dont take away the c from modano. HedleyLamarr
Modano, a leader? Wasn't this the same "leader" that whined about having to take a charter flight to Team USA and the same player that got benched in the elimination round of the Olympics vs. Finland? This decision doesn't suprise me. HedleyLamarr
So? Longevity with one team doesn't mean you should be granted captaincy.

Brendan
So? Longevity with one team doesn't mean you should be granted captaincy. true but like tank said madano is the face of the stars. he is reconazible with fans and despite what happened at the olympics he is a leaders. No way that Morrow is a better leader. Like i said make morrow a assitant.
ColeJ
1st of all, modano is still the face of the franchise. he was the face of the franchise when tinordi was captain, when broten was captain, and when hatcher was captain. he will continue to be the face of the franchise until he retires, even if morrow wears the C.2ndly, it's MODANO... not MADANO. how people can still spell that wrong after all these years is baffling.3rdly, modano isn't a rah-rah kind of guy. he's a quite leader, and he can continue to be a quiet leader with the A. morrow has shown great leadership in his career so far, and has been rewarded with the captaincy.the only change in captaincy is that modano will have the A that morrow wore the last few years, and morrow will get the C that modano had the last few years.it's still a 3-pronged leadership group of modano, morrow, and zubov. CaolinaJoe
From Canoe on Sept 14 2004By MIKE ULMER -- Toronto Sun Most World Cup teams have a moratorium on labour talk. So when Team USA slunk out of the World Cup in St. Paul, Minn., a joshing reporter belatedly put it to Mike Modano that the Dallas star could probably fetch $400 a week playing in the minors."That wouldn't pay for my dog's food for a month," Modano told Newark Star-Ledger reporter Rich Chere.Tomorrow the padlocks go on the game.Don't let the door hit you on the butt on the way out, Mike.Modano's dogs won't go hungry, which is a relief. Neither will he, which isn't, especially when you consider how many working people in Texas would gratefully use $400 a week to feed their kids, not their dogs. Fred T. Jane
I guess not but to me Modano is the face of the Dallas Stars. Most people forget that Derien Hatcher was Captain for most of the 1990s in Dallas, and Modano only took the Captaincy when he left for Philly. [Croatia National Team Manager Slavan] Bilic then went on to explain how Croatia's success can partially be put down to his progressive man-management techniques. "Sometimes I lie in the bed with my players. I go to the room of Vedran Corluka and Luka Modric when I see they have a problem and I lie in bed with them and we talk for 10 minutes." Maybe Capello could try getting through to his players this way too? Although how far he'd get with Joe Cole jumping up and down on the mattress and Rooney demanding to be read his favourite page from The Very Hungry Caterpillar is open to question. --The Guardian's Fiver, 08 September 2008 Attention: In order to obtain maximum enjoyment from your stay at the CCSLC, the reader is advised that the above post may contain large amounts of sarcasm, dry humour, or statements which should not be taken in any true sort of seriousness. Coast2CoastAM2006
being the face of the franchise =/= captainMorrow is more of a gritty take charge type of person, modano while a very good player and the face of the franchise doesn't strike me as a take charge leader. Theres a good reason Tinordi, Broten, Hatcher all wore the C while Modano was the star for the team. In fact during the 99 SC playoffs, Joe Nieuwendyk not Modano wore the C when Hatcher was suspended for a couple of games. We also have to consider that Modano is probably retiring ina couple years and they need to groom a captain. I think the coaches felt that its time that Morrow grows in to his role and see if he is cut out to being the team leader. Spoilers!
EatSleepJeep
Look at the playoff collapses Modano has captained. I think it's about time, but I thought it would go to Zubov before Morrow.
