Brock
I'm hoping they don't follow the lead of Reading and call themselves something like the A-Phils. Which names do you think would be good for the new team?
rams80
Allentown Pianomen Maybe something in regards to the steel industry (yes I know that's more up Bethlehem's alley.) The_Admiral
Boy, didn't see that reference coming.Allentown Phillies sounds the best, though if you think about it, "Allentown Philadelphians" doesn't make a whole hell of a lot of sense, does it? Korkie
According to all the info I have seen in the local media they will be using Lehigh Valley, not Allentown. TBGKon
Looks like they're holding a name the team contest, with the top 6 entries going up on a poll in few weeks:http://www.lehighvalleyaaabaseball.com/nametheteam.htmI submitted Lehigh Valley Miners and Lehigh Valley Firehawks
Korkie
I submitted:- Railers (the railroad industry is huge in this area because it transports much of the steel and iron produced at Bethlehem Steel, the company that once provided the backbone of that community. Also it links the team to the Reading Phillies who also uses trains in their logo package)- Bucks (there are a ton of deer in this area)- Ironmen (again a tribute to the steel mills of the area and the overall character of the people) "The views expressed here are mine and do not reflect the official opinion of my employer or the organization through which the Internet was accessed."Dr. Kelso: My son is a big baseball fan. The_Admiral
You know, it's hard to keep the Phillies down, but they won't be getting up today.Because they missed the playoffs, you see.And it's another "Allentown" reference, you see.(dodges tomato) ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

leopard88
Lehigh Valley Black Diamonds(named after the anthracite coal the Lehigh Valley Railroad used to carry)Great name, but unlikely. It was already the name of the failed Atlantic League team that was supposed to play in the never-completed stadium near Easton. I don't think anyone will want any association with that fiasco. leopard88
VulcanNo, Vulcan from Roman mythology, ya dingus Assuming that to be what he means , I like that one too. I also like Triplets (which I assume comes from the cities of Allentown, Bethlehem and Easton).I already mentioned why I don't think Black Diamonds will happen, even though I like it. I also like Steam (despite my general distaste for singular/s-less plural names), but it may be similarly doomed because it is the name of a defunct minor league soccer team.Speaker of defunct soccer teams, that may be the answer -- let's hear it for the 2nd incarnation of the Pennsylvania Stoners.
