BlueSky
The credit goes to Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila. The first time I saw him play, I couldn't decide who had it tougher - the person who did his jersey nameplate or the poor schmucks calling the game. I don't know about other sports 'cause I don't follow them, but at least in the NFL, the last 10 years or so have seen an explosion in the number of player names that are:- tricky to pronounce (Raiders LB Isaiah Ekejiuba, Giants DE Osi Umenyiora)- could drive a spelling bee contestant to drink (Bengals WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Panthers DT Ma'ake Kemoeatu)- both (Raiders RB Adimchinobe Echamandu, Giants TE Visanthe Shiancoe)- or are just plain cool or fun to say (Dolphins QB Cleo Lemon, Jets WR/KR Jerricho Cotchery, Colts LB Cato June, Dolphins LB Channing Crowder). Then there the unusual or humorous, like Cincinnati's TE Brad St. Louis (trade him to the Rams!) or Rams G Richie Incognito (shouldn't he play in a blank jersey?).So I decided to put together my own NFL All-Name Team. With one exception - the aforementioned RB Adimchinobe Echamandu - all the starters are on active rosters. I saw him on the Raiders' practice squad and knew he had to be a starter. (Update - The Raiders have activated Echamandu as of 22Oct.)There were some interesting patterns, for example there are noticeably more AFC players in total. By far the toughest decision as to starters was among NFC defensive linemen. Only one team is not represented - the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Try as I might, I couldn't find anybody who met the criteria. In fact, if I'd started in the NFL South, I probably would have given up since I'm not sure there were even 10 guys from those 4 teams. (Update - "After further review" I've added 2 Bucs to the team, LS Andrew Economos & LB Shelton Quarles.)It should go without saying, but in case it doesn't, the intent here is to HAVE fun, not to make fun or demean anyone in any way (you should see MY last name...). Just imagine Michaels and Madden trying to call THIS game. Eye
How about former Cleveland Brown Ben Gay. And former Brown, last time I noticed he was on the Patriots, Earthwind Moreland.
BlueSky
Great suggestions. Everyone in my original post is on a current roster or practice squad, though I didn't look at all the practice squads.Maybe I'll do an All-Time name team. Earthwind might start on that one. ;-)
ZapRowsdower8
My favorite name to say was always Chris Fumautu-Malafala. I just tried to spell that by sounding it out, so it's probably wrong. Def the longest name I ever saw on a jersey.

Maybe there are other cool names in the AFL too, I'll check it out some time.

BlueSky
How about Oakland's QB Marques Tuiasosopo? He's on my list as a reserve. I just liked Cleo Lemon's name better. How about former Cleveland Brown Ben Gay.Or Patriots CB Randall Gay.Neither meets the critieria I used, which are completely subjective - tough to pronounce or tough to spell or both, or just cool and/or fun to say.
