hockey in alabama....look up the UAH chargers.

From Wikipedia...

"Its ice hockey team won the NCAA Division II national championship in 1996 and 1998 and now competes in Division I as a member of College Hockey America. UAH houses the only NCAA ice hockey program south of the Mason-Dixon Line. In 2012, UAH will host the NCAA Hockey Frozen Four championship finals, which will play at the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa, Florida. UAH was selected as host of the "Frozen Four", as being the closest collegiate hockey program to Florida."

Are they still only a club team which they were while I was attending Alabama? I never liked the stylized A, I figured they'd look better with Alabama going down the front like the Rangers do.

As for hockey in Alabama besides UAH the Birmingham Bulls of the WHA were there for awhile then came back for a few years in the ECHL before moving to Atlantic City (then to Stockton, CA).

CHA and division I are quite incompatible terms. The Frozen Four in Florida is asinine.

Don't jump on me if I just came across what you meant in the the wrong way. But College Hockey America is just a conference within division 1 hockey. Such as the ACC or SEC in other collegiate sports.

Alabama plays in the ACHA, Div III, I believe. That's what USF plays in, at they were at Alabama this Friday and Saturday night. Sometime later this season Alabama makes the return trip here for a weekend.

Um, tell that to Bemidji State (CHA) who went 4-3 vs. the WCHA (who's champ has won the national title the last four years). And as far as the Frozen Four in Florida, it's sold out well in advance anyway, why not put it in a "destination," instad of in some cold place like, say, last years spot Wisconsin?

Because hockey doesn't work in the South, duh!

[Croatia National Team Manager Slavan] Bilic then went on to explain how Croatia's success can partially be put down to his progressive man-management techniques. "Sometimes I lie in the bed with my players. I go to the room of Vedran Corluka and Luka Modric when I see they have a problem and I lie in bed with them and we talk for 10 minutes." Maybe Capello could try getting through to his players this way too? Although how far he'd get with Joe Cole jumping up and down on the mattress and Rooney demanding to be read his favourite page from The Very Hungry Caterpillar is open to question. --The Guardian's Fiver, 08 September 2008
