Well atleast Yankees fans can still root for the Mets if they want to theres pleanty of room on the bandwagon.

Personally, I'd rather get hit by an ambulance.

from that celebration you would of thought that they just won the World Series, not a division series.

Yeah thats my biggest gripe. I mean I know its a big achevement, for The Tigers especially, but it would be so refreshing for a manager to disallow that. If I ever heard a manager say "Celebrate? What the fu*k have we won? We still have a ton of work to do." , I would truely root for the team just because of that. But even better than that, id love to see a team take that from the manager and agree with it.

Division Title? Of course you celebrate it.

LCS? Hell yes!!!

World Series? Nope, you should never celebrate that!!! :P

But a win in the LDS? Too much work lies ahead to celebrate that.

I actually had over-under odds going on the make and model of the first car that would be overturned and burned. If the Tigers win the World Series on or around Halloween...just imagine the Devil's Night we'll get to see.

still, the Yankees and Dodgers are no longer in the playoffs and the Padres are (for now). I'm pretty happy right now.

Being a Red Sox and Giants, today, October 7th is a sweeeeeeet day: Yanks and Dogs were eliminated!!!

So from now the playoffs are very decent without them.

I'm not a bandwagon fan, I like the Tigers and hope they can win the big prize for their people. :)

I'm waiting for Tigers vs Mets in the 2006 WS but it's not bad to see a coast-to-coast WS with Mets vs A's (rematch of the 1974 WS)

How come no one made a topic on Oakland making it to the ALCS for the first time since 1992? That seems like a pretty big story, two teams who haven't come close to making it into the 2nd round in 16 years.

EDIT: bucfan's right. But the A's deserve their share of credit. I don't think the Tigers are gonna do that twice in a row.

"SOMEONE BEAT THE YANKEES! STOP THE :censored:IN PRESSES!"

I really didn't want my 400th post to be about a(nother) depressing October, but that's life I guess.

Because the A's havent quite been the ALs version of the Expos, like the Tigers were. Plus, this is almost like David beating Goliath. Yanks had the best lineup in even recent Yankees memory. The Tigers werent even given a chance, even after they made the post season. Its really a great story of rags to riches. But the A's deal was a big accomplishment too.

So truely, its like this.

HOLY FU*K!!!! THE TIGERS BEAT THE YANKS!!!! STOP THE FU*KIN PRESSES!!!!

I'm a huge fan of Pudge Rodriguez ever since he played for the Rangers during my years in the DFW area. The guy's a leader and a winner who has that elusive "it" - the competitive fire that inspires his teammates. Here in Atlanta they're constantly wringing their hands over why the Braves bomb in the post-season every year and I think the lack of more guys like Pudge is the reason why. Smoltz is one of the few.

The celebration was amazing and fun to watch. Good for them for sharing the joy with the fans, even if it was just the first step towards the WS. I also thought it was cool that new Saints coach Sean Payton did a lap high-fiving fans in the Superdome after the Saints spanked the Falcons on MNF.

I just wanted to add this from ESPN. It was on the bottom line.

"Breaking news...In a phone interview with Stuart Scott, ESPN's Peter Gammons has confirmed reports that 28 major league baseball teams exist outside Boston and New York. ESPN is also the first to report the discovery of another major league team in New York City. Unconfirmed sources say the second New York team is called The Mets. For more details and the latest on T.O. tune to ESPN News or go to ESPN.com" :D

I'm on the bandwagon of anyone who's playing the Mets. That'll probably end up being the Tigers, so..save a seat.

Acually, the rest of the NL East is going too.You may want to bring another wagon.

Sorry, I forgot that everyone else hates them too.

Dude are you (or is ESPN) kidding me? The Mets are by far one of the most televised teams on ESPN. To say they are ignored is frickin rediculous.

I hate the Braves, Phillies, Marlins and Nationals

Number of World Series Championships since 1993

Florida Marlins- 2

Atlanta Braves- 1

Montreal Expos/Washington Nationals- 0

New York Mets- 0

Philadephia Phillies- 0

You're just playing catch-up ball Tank...

[Croatia National Team Manager Slavan] Bilic then went on to explain how Croatia's success can partially be put down to his progressive man-management techniques. "Sometimes I lie in the bed with my players. I go to the room of Vedran Corluka and Luka Modric when I see they have a problem and I lie in bed with them and we talk for 10 minutes." Maybe Capello could try getting through to his players this way too? Although how far he'd get with Joe Cole jumping up and down on the mattress and Rooney demanding to be read his favourite page from The Very Hungry Caterpillar is open to question. --The Guardian's Fiver, 08 September 2008

Let's see it: Those 2006 Tigers have something in common with the 2002 Angels and the 2005 Chicago White Sox... that is the lack of playoffs pressure.

They went through the playoffs until the World Series parade... because they were trying without anything big to lose.

So the 2006 Tigers are happy and tryin' now.

PD: This was edited because of my terrible English! One day I'll master this language. Period!
