BBM
The LA Angels have been a team that may want to get another big thumper in their lineup. But what would they give up for him? Personally, as a Yankee fan, I think I would take Jared Weaver stright up. I know he's a young pitcher and teams don't like giving that up, but if LA wants a bat like ARod they're gonna have to give up something valuable. Any other offers for ARod? As a fan of your team, would you want him, and what would you give up for him?

Hes been too much of an asset to a team that struggled mainly do to weak pitching. Personally, id like to see SF or Oakland snag him up, but I doubt thats possible. Maybe SF can with the huge dump in payroll that theyll take during the off season, but I doubt it. Epiphanic
I think it's fair to say that all 30 teams would love A-Rod on their team. The question is the price. He's $25M/yr contract isn't within' the realm of too many teams, so any trade options would be limited. In reality the BoSox and the Angels are probably the only teams that could make a trade for him because those are really the only teams that are comparable (loosely speaking) to the Yankees regarding payroll. That being said, why would the Yankees want to trade A-Rod? Yes he had tough year (compared to other of his years), but he is still better than many other 3B/SS. The question of is he worth $25M/yr is another debate. I doubt that the Yankees will move him because (a) he's so gosh-darn talented and/or ( he's so gosh-darned expensive.P.S. I find it funny when people think when the Yankees don't win the World Series, something must be terribly wrong. The playoffs are sort of a crapshoot. The Devil Rays would beat the Yankees a quarter of the time in a 5-game series. They simply got beat by a better team. It seems that we've forgotten that the Tigers were essentially the best team in the American League for the entire year. "In the arena of logic, I fight unarmed."I tweet & tumble. meetthemets
I can't see anyone taking on that contract, especially with is reputation in the playoffs. He's a good player but easily one of the most over payed and overrated in the game, IMO.
jkrdevil
It should be noted that his contract isn't as a big of an issue as some would think. Remember that Texas pays most of his contract, so the team he is traded to won't have to take on as much of his contract as the Yankees will probably pay some of it. Leaving his new team with a small portion. I would think the Angels might be interested. I don't think the Yankees would want Weaver, they got burnt pretty bad by Jeff and I don't think they will risk whether or not Jared can handle the pressure. A trade will mostly be for top level prospects.
PaperAirplane31
In my dream world, A-Rod would be traded to the Cubs* for Carlos Zambrano and Aramis Ramirez. In actuality it makes my head hurt thinking about what the Yankees should do with him.*It's the perfect fit, he'll never make it to the World Series there. Cyclopsis Joe
I don't know about the other Braves fans, but we already have players who can go 0-5 in a game.We don't need another one. Mac the Knife
Send him to Pittsburgh. At least there he can hang around a bunch of other guys who can't hit in the clutch.

pcgd
As a cardinal fan, I'd take him for anyone not named Chris Carpenter, Albert Pujols, Colby Rasmus or Adam Wainwright pretty much straight up.As long as they didn't give up 3 out of Reyes, Duncan, Rolen, or their high level prospects.I could go with 2 high level prospects and a mid level. Or an everyday, High level, low level. Some cash and a low level prospect in return would be nice. But it ain't going to happen. Cardinals will blow their wad on Zito, Schmidt, or 2 mid-range starters (or 6 re-treads like this year) or perhaps Buehrle if the Sox are stupid and don't pick up the option OR they work out a trade. BJ Sands
It pains me to say it but the best fit for a trade is the White Sox. They wanted him in 2000, they and their GM are desperate after this season, that same GM is a real gambler, and they have the pieces the Yanks would want:Young pitching... check. (Brandon McCarthy or Charlie Haeger)Veteran pitching... check. (Freddy Garcia or maybe even Mark Buehrle)A young 3B prospect... check. (Josh Fields)I would not be surprised if Kenny Williams makes this move. If he does, the Sox could move A-Rod back to short (where he belongs) and dump Juan Uribe. And the Sox appear to be willing to pick up salary, although Garcia is making about $9 mill while the Sox would only be paying A-Rod about $15 mill. A-Rod is definitely worth $6 mill more than Garcia.EDIT: I forgot to add that, unlike many other teams, the Sox could survive giving up what the Yanks would want. If Joe Crede re-signs, Fields may have been trade bait, anyways. Trading Freddy Garcia and Brandon McCarthy would hurt, but there would be some decent free agent alternatives this winter, or maybe the Sox could convince the Yanks to throw in Jaret Wright. HedleyLamarr
Andruw Jones, Kyle Davies, and Jarrod Saltalamacchia (one of the top catching prospects in all of baseball) for Alex Rodriguez.I'd do it in a heartbeat.
Discrim
teh Yanks can keep A-Wad and his millions. he's worthless to the Cubs IMO, cus there's not really anywhere we could put him. I'd trade Rothschild for him, but that's about it. A strong mind gets high off success, a weak mind gets high off bull

CZzyzx41
Seriously, why not let another team win the race for negotiating rights for Matsuzaka and then take him and a 3B and maybe a 1B or OF prospect for A-Rod. I hate to say this as a Padres fan but the Dodgers sending Matsuzaka or Billingsley, Betemit and Loney to the Yanks just seems natural. Having said that, I SO hope it doesn't happen. -DanielCheck Out My Podcast!
