WJMorris3
They ought hold moments of silence at both games tonight; after all, Lidle was a member of both the Mets and A's.

BB61
It's all odd considering the Phillies dealt him a few month ago.He had his passport -- they found it in the debris. Could he have been headed to Canada, perhaps?Very sad. And like JQK said -- life is precious.
maz
I'll say what I said in the other thread...first they lose in the playoffs and now theyve lost him. For the first time Im sorry for the Yankees and their fans.

And like JQK said -- life is precious. From what I have heard listening to the news and NY radio over the web is that he was Sight seeing New York before heading home to California. I'm sure he had he passport because he was going home and he would have it with him just in case he needed it for some reason.
bosox
Now someone confirm, is he dead? From the local news stations and online news, they said he was not confirmed dead yet.
jkrdevil
Now someone confirm, is he dead? From the local news stations and online news, they said he was not confirmed dead yet.Apparently his next of kin hasn't been notified yet so the authorities aren't releasing the name yet. However it has been confirmed that it was Lidle's plane, they found his passport on the scene, and he mentioned to reporters the other day while cleaning out his locker that he was going to fly out today. All indications are that it is him.

This has definately been a two day stretch thatn has for sure put many things back into perspective for me, mainly, just how lucky ive got it. Tragic news, he and his famly will be in my prayers. Squeaks4
Very sad situation. I honestly can't believe air space over NYC is completely open for this small of a plane, especially on a very cloudy day. In fact, I just heard he doesn't even have to be in contact with air traffic controllers. He could literally take a flight around the arm of the statue of liberty with no restrictions. Ridiculous. Also, I know times have changed, but I still found it a little ridiculous that stocks started to drastically fall at the simple report of a plane crash. Honestly, they should get the info first before they start selling millions of dollars of stock away. On top of that, as I have been watching this story on the news they keep hounding this doesn't seem to be terrorism, I mean honestly, I think we can all figure that one out on our own. Oh well, I guess that?s what kind of world we live in now.

PaperAirplane31
On the radio down hear, they said he was performing stunts or that he was with a flight student and a flight instructor. Something was obviously screwed up with that plane.RIP Cory Lidle.
meetthemets
1. It was Cory Lidle. he's dead. It has been conformed virtually everywhere. 2. The game will not be cancelled due to this accident. It's a tragic accident but they won't cancel the game(s) over it.3. The Mets-Dodgers series has been over since Saturday.4. What conformation do you have the game has been rained out, over 2 hours from game time?
Shumway
I'm completely shocked right now. Completely tragic story.I was telling my friend about this, and he asked if it was a suicide. That thought never even crossed my mind. As much as I highly doubt as though it was, is that even a possibility here?
slapshot
What might be perceived as stunts could be the parachute effect. This particular type of plane uses something called a parachute effect to slow the plane down if there is a problem with the fuel line. It slows the plane down to make it safe to land...I don't know if it was windy, but maybe the zigzagging was to avoid buildings. That thought never even crossed my mind. As much as I highly doubt as though it was, is that even a possibility here?It seems he was in the plane sight seeing with his flight instructor, so I wouldn't think it was suicide. It may be mechanical error. We'll find out what later after an investigation. As for the game tonight. The reason I brought that up was because it happen less than 10 miles away Shea. The Detroit-Oakland game will be played with a moment of silence.
