FiddySicks
Just means we'll all have to start trying on more caps until we find the one that's made exactly the right amount too small or too large.yeah, and in a lot of stores they start getting pissed off if you ask to try on more than 2 of the same cap.Thats something that annoys me to no end. I absolutely HATE it when the workers get annoyed that im asking to try on multiples of the same sized hats. I have customers that constantly say things like "hey sorry to do this to you, but do you think I can try on another one of those hats in the same size?" I think its a perfectly acceptable question and my first response is always the same, Sir/mam, there is absolutely no need to apologize. I know exactly what its like to be stuck with a cap that doesnt fit. Hell, you can try on every cap if you want to. When your willing to spend that kind of money on a hat, you better get the kind of service that you deserve. And thats the thing I love so much about New Era 59Fiftys. There are a lot of terribly sized hats out there, but when you get ahold of one that just fits like a frickin glove, its gonna be the best, most comfortable hat you own. Yeah it takes a bit more work and time, but in the long run, IMO its so worth it. On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.) Wipe myself with it?With a White Sox cap you might, but certainly not with a Mets cap! I prefer to wipe with a Mets or Cubs hat.But polyester hats? NOOOOOOO!!!!! THis will absolutely RUIN how the hats fit. There is an entire process to breaking in a New Era WOOL fitted:completely immerse the hat in water, let it dry on my head, and shrink to my exact size, and bend the bill exactly how it should look. Now they won't shrink because they're not wool???This is a travishamockery. SabreGuy
I really hope the company continues to make a wool version of the 5950, even if it is "fashion," because a polyester cap is never going to work for a person like me.The problem is, I have a large head. Somewhere in the neighborhood of a 7 5/8 and 7 3/4. That poses a problem because anything above 7 1/2 is not well stocked in most stores, if at all. I often find, especially at Lids/HatWorld stores that they don't even stock most caps over 7 1/2. If I DO find a store that stocks my size, there's usually only 1 or 2 of each size, leaving me not a lot of choice of "trying on different ones to find one that fits right." It just can't happen. Also, a second problem is, I don't live in Cleveland. This is a problem because Indians hats (the team I root for, and whose hats I buy most often) are not well stocked in Buffalo (and especially not in Southeast Ontario where I'm going to be moving) and so I usually have to resort to buying my hats on the 'net.In order to get around the fact that I have to buy my hats on the 'net, I usually buy the larger size, 7 3/4, and SHRINK the hat to fit my head. This serves two purposes. 1) it makes the hat perfectly fitted to my head. 2) it eliminates the high crown, which doesn't look right on me.And so, 100% polyester eliminates my ability to find an authentic MLB cap that fits me correctly and looks good when I wear it. Seeing that I "collect" them, this seems to be the death knell for my collection. I'm going to be stuck wearing only the "four sizes fit all" cotton hats, which really defeats the purpose. I'm actually fairly distressed by this switch to polyester. It doesn't work for someone like me at all.R.I.P. wool 5950. M59
Slightly OT, but how do you guys clean your hats? I have an Orioles 1995 road gray hat (obviously no longer made in any form) that really needs a cleaning. What's the best method? I'd appreciate any help anyone wants to provide. Thanks! To clean the headband, take a wet washcloth and put a little detergent and a little Spray and Wash and gently rub down the headband with the wet wash cloth. After you have sufficiently cleaned the headband of sweat stains and soil, rinse the wash cloth out with clear water and once again wash down the headband, cleaning up any left soap. Let dry and your cap will be ready to go again. Some sweat stains stay in but at least the cap will be cleani like the move to the raised logo. it seperates the official NEW ERAs from the facts i thinks. thats one way you can tell a legit NEW ERA fashion to a Counterfit one. by RoscoeUA by gingerbreadman

It's basically a spot cleaner like they used at the dry cleaner. If you're lucky, try to find the Cap Cleaning Kit, which has the original PerfectCurve (they recently introduced a new model), the cleaning spray, and a cleaning brush. This usually costs about 15 bucks.

Gothamite
To a point.Unless you define looking like a Black Plague carrier as "character".Myself, I find it easier to treat new hats with a protective spray than clean a hat that has already been sweatstained. Not that it helps you with your O's cap.... The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! Now in a handy blog.

(Although I does look better than the 1995 alternate hat currently consigned to wear during lawn work. At this point, that things so crusty it's more of a helmet than a hat...) CubsFanBudMan
People should not be asking any questions. We should shun this thread because it is not officially released information. I thought we were all against leaks. Please think about how the people at New Era would feel that all their hard work is being leaked. Please! Please! Please!Wait you shouldn't be even reading this post! You were one of the leaders of the anti-leak squad.Um.. I like the fact you are quoting yourself -- seems like you have an internal battle on leaks going on there, fella. Anyway, it's not a leak. These are caps released to a cap store opened by an employee and are currently for sale, correct? He didn't open the box that said not to.
