New MLB 59Fiftys for 2006

It was at the HatClub at Chandler Fashion. The new 5950's are just crap. I will say it over and over again. They make the 5950 fashion hats made in China look good. And they are made pretty bad. After working in the buisness for a little over 9 years, I could tell right away without even putting it on that they would not fit the same.

The crown sits higher than the current 5950's, the material just feels really cheap. It reminds me of the old proline college hats.

This move by NewEra has finally made me decide to not purchase anything from them again, First: hats being made in China, and Second: Screwing with a great thing that made them money for over 50 years.

Sorry for rumbling about this, but this really pisses me off. Especially when about 90% of all my hats are the 5950's

Ugh I hated the ProLine caps. Those things never fit right. My first U of A hat was a proline, and it fit like crap. I'll have to go to the mall this weekend and check out the caps (and maybe pick up some wool ones if I can find them)

Question: Do these new 59FIFTYs impact Minor League caps? In fact, do they impact any New Era cap other than MLB?

I was at the the local Lids store today.Same $32.99 price tag,and no buy one,get 1/2 off the 59Fiftys.

it works on all the authentics just not fashion caps.

So, I noticed that, in the MLB online shop, the new Arizona caps are still listed as being made of 100% Wool. Is this a mislabeled page?

In the other thread the person who was at the press conference said that he received the new hats, and they were wool. But the players were wearing the black underbills, so I'm assuming those were the polyester ones.

I'm just throwing this in: maybe they are both wool and have black underbills. Perhaps different teams will choose different materials for their caps. Since New Era have not made an official statement concerning the caps, that ALL the MLB caps in the 2007 season will be polyester is speculation. It is quite possible that some teams will have wool, and others not. Or perhaps the polyester is a one-season experiment, to see how they well they do.

Again, I'm speculating.

most likely all the new hats are going to the AZ stores. then the site would get them. i would venture to say that the site would get them by the end of next week.

So i just recieved both of the new Diamondbacks caps in the mail today (apparently DHL dilivers not only on Saturdays, but also on holidays. They mustve been there all day long. THankfully nobody swiped them) and both hats are the new 2007 hats. 100% Polyester, black underbill, raised MLB logo on the back. Both fit me like a frickin glove. First time ive ever ordered multiple caps from MLB.com where both fit me perfectly. Ill post pics in a bit.

I tried on one of the new 5950's at the hatclub here in Arizona. Man do these hats suck. Not only do they not fit like the wool one's. The sizing is screwy. I wear a 7 1/4. That size was too big. I tried on the next size down. It was too small. I do believe that NewEra is going to burn itself with this crap. I will never buy a NewEra hat as long as it is made with the new material.

What brand will you buy then? New ERA hAS a lock on the market it seems and everyone else prices are crazy( NEW ERA are high as is) now I just make my own caps.

im just glad they made the rim inside that fitted black because im tired of buying a new hat when it turns from white to a gloden brown.

I agree. It suckes when the inside of a cap gets to dirty. These new ones will be able to be cleaned. The caps I make are poly. and I love rockin white caps. White ballcaps and wool no good. All of my white poly. caps are still white because they are so easy to clean.

As with anything......some will love, some will hate. One good thing about New Era going poly is that my hat sells should increase. No more I only rock wool caps excuses!!!! HA!!!!!

I wonder when these "new" caps will show up at my local SportsAuthrity or Lids. I can't wait to check them out, being an avid cap collector. I own close to 200 New Era fitteds.

200! Wow, I thought I had a lot of hats.

I have over 400 all together, probably getting close to 500, but only about half are New Era fitteds.

Nice, i am at 327. I used to wear them a lot but not so much anymore, but including other hats my hat collection goes well beyond 700 (used to own a sports wear store) to a point where i just stopped counting. 95% are fitted and there are ones that aren't which are just ones ppl bought for me. But the 327 are new era fitteds the others are fitted but different brands (nike, reebok, etc).

I do wear 3 hats to the gym, i rotate the 3 mostly cuz it just reeks and you need to let it dry and wipe down with a wet cloth that doesn't shed lint.

Thing about black band is that when it does get dirty, it gets shiny and brown. Not as visible as white bands but still, it will get itchy and make you wanna wash your head right away to avoid zits.
