It's official. From the Green Bay Press-Gannett web site:

The Green Bay Bullfrogs.

That's what the city's new summer college baseball team in the Northwoods League will be called.

The name, one of five put to a four-day online vote that ended Tuesday, was chosen from hundreds of suggestions by fans.

?Bullfrogs really fits the concept of the Northwoods League itself and the type of entertainment we're bringing to the Green Bay community,? Jeff Royle, president of Titletown Baseball Group, said in a press release announcing the name.

?Bullfrogs are a very catchy and unique nickname which will allow us to have a lot of fun with logo designs, promotions and merchandise.?

Carmen Seversen of Osseo suggested the Bullfrogs. She donated her grand-prize package -- season tickets, merchandise and a chance to throw out the first ball at a game -- back to the team so it could be given to a local person. Jordan Dietrich, 9, was chosen in a random drawing of those who suggested a name.

The team hopes to unveil the Bullfrogs' logo later this month, with merchandise to be available about the same time.

The Bullfrogs begin league play on May 31. They'll play home games at Joannes Stadium through mid-August. The 14-team NWL has teams in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, Iowa and Ontario.
