CONCEPT81: Cinncinnatti Bengals

This is a concept that I did a while back but never posted. I tweaked a few things and here it goes...

1) Replaced the "B" wordmark with an actual script wordmark

2) Moved the stripes back to the shoulders and added their secondary logo to the sleeve

3) Added pipping to the bottom of the neckline and sleeve cuffs

4) Removed the white side panels

5) Added stripes to the socks ( I always wanted to see how that would look if they ever did it )

6) I wanted to do something different with the pants so I made the stripe into a tail and carried it down only one side of the pants and on the other side I used another of their logos placed at the hip.

I think that the socks might be a little 'out there' and I'm not too sure about the tail as a stripe on one side deal but what the hell it's only a concept and it's meant to be done for that satisfaction. C&C as usual and thanks for checking out my post - BigDub.81

that is very creative making one side a stripe to make it look like a tail, i've never thought of that b4. yea the socks are a little out there but i can see it it being possible so i wouldn't worry about it if i were u. i actully like the white side panel, but it doesnt look very good witht the transition into the pant sides so i can understand why u took out. Perfect on the shoulders too make it look more like a bengal, and also match all the stripes you have (helmet, pants stripe, socks)

overall perfect, one of the best bengals concepts i've seen. Ocho Cinco would love these bad boys.

Is it just me or is "Cinncinnatti" spelled wrong?

Why can't people get that right?

I guess that it is the same reason that people spell "the"..."teh". <_<

Which means bigdub should get around to changing the title of this thread.

The tail idea is really clever. It's also a bit tacky. Still, I think it could really work. However, in order for it you work I think you need to make the rest of the uniform more classic, which means getting rid of the striped socks (not working) and simplifying the mess of colors in the collar-shoulders-sleeves area (way too busy, still).

i find it funny that its easier to make an awsome bengals concept than it is to write the word Cincinnati

ok this is a very good concept, but....

-i think the "tail" needs to be on both sides, it will look much better on the field.

-i would ditch the striped socks. i don't think they would look that good seeing how a lot of guys wear them so that only the top 1 inch is shown, while others show 6 inches of sock. the stripes would really make that more apparent(sp?).

-why so much black? i dont think you need black sleeves on the orange or white jerseys, but the black jersey does look good. making the sleeves the same color as the rest of the jersey (just like the black one) would make them look more traditional, which always works well when you are using tiger stripes because they are so out there (as a design element.)

overall, nice job, but some tweaks could make it perfect.

Great concept. I love it, it looks great, good job.

However I don't really like the striped sox, good idea tho..... And I don't love the pants with the bengals on them.... Great job tho.

I'd totally drop the black pants, as they add nothing to the set.

And personally, I'd do an orange/orange "white tiger" set with the stripes/tiger tail with white where the orange has been. Would be a true "alternate"

Ok, i'm taking in all of the suggestions towards the update that you all want. And I'm sorry for spelling 'Cincinnati' wrong because I honestly didn't think that I did when I posted it but oh well!

If you were wondering...the reason for the back of the collar being orange was to have a solid

back that had a pipping line wrap around the bottom of the neckline.

The tail idea is really clever. It's also a bit tacky. Still, I think it could really work. What would work for you? I could place the TV numbers on the sleeve's and ditch the alternate logo that's about it because I like the way I've done the collar and sleeve cuff's so I'm not going to change that part of my design.

...About the tail/stripe....

A tiger only has one tail therefore I only have one tail/stripe. If you look at the design a little better I tried to make it look as though the tail wrapped around to that side of the pants which would leave the other side blank. I didn't want to use the same logo as I did for the sleeve's so that's why I put the 'leaping tiger' logo on that side of the pants. It's not meant to be two different set's of pants but viewed as the right and left sides. I did the tail for 1) Because I thought it was different and unique....and 2) Since I had it in mind to do the socks in a stripe pattern, I thought that it would be overkill to run a straight bengal stripe from the hip down. That's why I figured just make it look like a tail that wraps to one side and see how it looks!

Ok about the update....

I was going to do an update based on your ideas but as I was doing so, the concept just didn't look like it was complete!

I was going to have solid color sleeves on the orange and white jersey but on the white it looked too plain and on the orange it was just too much orange.

Having the socks just plain orange doesn't flow with the rest of the uniform by it having stripes. I am a fan of teams having their helmet and socks match if possible because it 'finishes' the look to me when they do so.

I would have taken the numbers off of the shoulders but placing them where the sleeve logo is doesn't fit the style. Besides, the patriots have it like this with their jersey's and to me there's are one of my favorites in the league.

And I honestly would prefer the black pants to the white ones simply because it makes the uniform look more 'meaner' I guess. Considering black is a primary color for them, to me it would make more sense but I think that every team should have two sets of pants. I would only wear the white one's with either the orange or white jersey though and only on a limited basis with the black jersey. I would do it like Seattle, does with their home uniform but I think that even they should option the white pants at home once in a while or at least get a pair of silver one's.

And for the tail/stripe....you can continue to argue that one

Brilliant! I would use solid colour socks though. They may look duller then the striped ones, but realistically these socks remind me of the verticle striped Broncos socks from the early 60's.

Other then that, this concept's perfect.
